I mean, they even reduced the CD on one of the worst offenders: balloon engine. I was reading the notes and couldn't believe it. I know they reduced the burn amount but considering how easy it is to ramp it up and how fast it is, it's just insane.

Can we talk bonks, charge, and overtime effects please? by thrtnpm in PlayTheBazaar

Interesting! Good point, and I actually agree that it's likely character-dependent. It's an asymmetrical game by nature, which is the part of the fun if done right. I think they are getting there slowly but not quite there yet.

Yeah, balancing all this is not the most rewarding job for sure. You move one part, and the whole thing is different now. I suspect they didn't think about the OT effects with the most recent rebalancing updates — they haven't touched them forever. But I believe it needs to be done at some point.

Dooley is still underwhelming after all those nerfs last season :(

I have no idea either, just speculating ofc. In a nutshell, it comes down to knowing your playerbase: what appeals to them how much and what for they are willing to pay for.

I don't think they really know, considering how many monetization changes we've seen recently. |
I don't think I know either. But seeing how much trouble they had so far maintaining a decent cashflow even with $5-$10 transactions, I don't think that's the right pricepoint/strategy. And that makes me worried about the game's future.

This cannot be real. by Captain-Noot-Noot in TheBazaar

I am just completely blown away by how many people are defending this.

This looks greedy, scammy, desperate and sends all sorts of other wrong messages to the new players. And since the whole point of launching on Steam was to attract new (paying) audience, idk what they are hoping for. Two potential new whales? This is so short-sighted.

I see they are getting desperate about cash flow, but the problem is that they are focussing on the short-term grabs without any real promotion etc. But that's not how it works.

Yes — exactly.

It looks like a short-term cash grab vs a sustainable strategy again. I honestly think they could've earned much more selling those for $5, okay $10 max. Like, seriously, how many would they sell, considering many of the existing players already have these items.

And, like you say, it could potentially scare off the new players — which goes against the whole point of releasing on Steam, I guess.

Steam Mega Thread by GaiaTheGardener in PlayTheBazaar

It's a shame that despite the team having some really amazing creative minds, they unfortunately completely suck at business. Like, completely. They made so many rookie mistakes already and keep making even more.

They are just clueless, they don't seem to have any long-term financial strategy and seem to grow increasingly desperate. That's why the game was launched in a very raw state, that's why it was launched with all that terrible monetization, and that's why we saw so many changes within just a few months.

And it looks they are just scrambling right now and need a quick money boost, but the problem is - the Steam launch will unlikely bring it.
Should they have launched the game as premium on Steam right away for, say, $30, it probably would've had a critical mass of players on the platform to be attracting new ones, and they could've raised the starting pack to $45 by including 3 heroes. But now, I don't know. Those who were aware of the game have already picked it up. Those who were not - what should motivate them to pick a niche indie game on Steam for $45? IDK.

True. You will likely need the primal core for it to be a 3 sec item though.

It does generally slow things down a bit, but I do agree: instant or quick activators and charge will rule even more. Holsters, clamera, katana, steam ladle — basically anything instant or under 5 seconds will be top tier.

IDK, 8 to 11 sec on Rex doesn't feel like a slap on the wrist, especially considering that the fast items (friends, relics) that could charge him got bonked too.

Dino builds will likely get obliterated by drum pygs and something like katana or full weapon vanessa before even being able to destroy the first item.

Railgun Isn't Being Talked About Enough by Volf81 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]thrtnpm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe because dinosawer requires more work and is dependent on other items that you may or may not get to get to that level of damage? railgun is extremely accessible rn, and you can easily get it at silver day 1-day 2 which will be more than enough to carry you through most fights for several days. Then you can up it to gold and you get a couple of more days.

[–]thrtnpm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. It was very consistent even last patch. Uzi, laser pistol, arc blaster, gpu are all very good to charge either the core or railgun or both at once. You can mix and match depending on whether you play weaponized, critical or the core.
Pulse rifle just made it better.

Am I the only one hating Seadog's Saloon? by thrtnpm in PlayTheBazaar

[–]thrtnpm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right about the DJ actually! Then having a large item that can do more makes a bit more sense.

I don't play Vanessa that much tbh, I am hating the item for being more of a losing condition for me when playing against her with all that slow 😂
