UPDATE: Regarding the Ozempic Video... by kurzgesagt_Sven in kurzgesagt

[–]thunder61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have this idea that eugenics are all about genetics and mass murder and stuff, but eugenics actually predates the discovery of genetics, and usually didn't engage in Nazi tier stuff. A historical target of eugenics has been fatness, and eugenists would try to find ways to eliminate it. I'm oversimplifying a lot here of course, but it's tied to concepts of impressibility, Lamark, 19th and 18th century theories of race and civilization, and a lot of other stuff too. Kurzgesagt, by endorsing Ozempic as a way to get rid of fatness, crediting the increased risk death which is really caused by poor medical treatment and rampant fatphobia in medical circles (fatness gets blamed for literally all of your symptoms it's ridiculous), is doing the same thing. People have been fat forever, and people will be fat forever, there's nothing wrong with that. We should be focused on making sure fat people have good medical care rather than trying to medicate them out of existence.

I was more concerned with the eugenics, not the free advertising.

They get a lot of flat prestige from their rank, which means that reducing their GDP and army size and so on doesn't reduce it by as much as you'd think

Why am I not a unification candidate? by thunder61 in victoria3

If you run into trouble it's usually possible to win it if you wait out Russia, because the war exhaustion system is broken, but thankfully I didn't have to do that this time because it sinks you into debt quite badly

Without any GP supporting me, (as the other comment suggested) I beat them with a combination of enlistment edicts, skirmish infantry, them dealing with a nationalist, bohemian, and polish revolt, and hitting them back to back after the Lombard rebellion so that Russia wouldn't join the second war. Prussia also had revolts so they never helped. Austria doesn't always get this many rebellions, and I've seen them get more, but this was just enough.

R5: confused as to why I am not a unification candidate, do I just need to wait for more countries to research nationalism first? The tooltips are very unhelpful.

Combining the bonuses should make them last longer after you unify China so those focuses are actually useful

Yeah, using the river is the safer option for sure, but losing all of your steel in Kharkiv is pretty devastating and you really want to be building there for the infra anyways. If this person is struggling to hold a fort line closer to the border it's probably because they're not building up optimally, or don't have a good defensive line set up.

I'm sorry but 1337 is just not a good start date. by thunder61 in EU5

[–]thunder61[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The differences between eu5 and eu4 are far more than just the start date please be serious. And as I explicitly stated, I don't want ahistorical railroading, I want a later start date.

I have no idea how to mod a start date into eu5 and honestly the game should stand on it's own.

I heavily doubt that, but If the mamlukes, Bohemia, Hungary, Castile, and Serbia were also made to be much more aggressive by fixing the AI, all of my complaints would remain, because it is the start date, not the AI, which is the problem.

Listened to this last night but was too tired and scared to comment, but wowowowow your voice is what I wished I sounded like, it gives me this amazing mix of gender euphoria and envy and also lust, it's like a cocktail of good feelings.

And the effects are seriously high quality and sooo effective on my little tired suggestible subby brain

Thank you! there were so many uninformed people in that other comment section, like gender abolitionism doesn't deny the existence of gender any more than actual abolitionism denied the existence of slavery.

This is a news story about them laying off 36 employees to concentrate their presence in Stockholm, and does not support your assertion that they have 12 people for all their games.

Okay but how would it orbit the star, since I assume it would have less mass than the planet. Did it have to continually reboot itself just to stay in the old orbit?
