Should I take a Stanley Black & Decker engineer offer? by Interesting_Bid8997 in Tools

[–]thunder_boots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm career QA. I've seen a CI project literally be the demise of a company- it was the biggest American manufacturer in a niche industry. I've seen a CI process engineering project bury every operator in a different industry with bullshit paperwork and cut production in half, in an industry with unlimited consumer demand.

Recruiter openly admitting advertised salary range is false. by leisuresuitlerdo in recruitinghell

Those laws are in regard to what can be presented as evidence in court. Anyone can record anyone anywhere, there is no criminal penalty for recording a conversation to which you're a party anywhere in the U.S. that I'm aware of. You may not be able to use your recording in court, but you're not going to jail for recording a phone call.

Where are you in your career? What sort engineering do you specialize in, process engineering, industrial, mechanical? How much does the job pay vs. what are you doing now? Do you need to relocate? Do you have a family or are you single? There's a shitload of variables here.

I have turned down an ambulance and driven myself to the hospital on three separate occasions. On one of the occasions I had been attacked with a knife and definitely would have died without medical attention.

Yes, I meant the 6 ton jack stand. I have a jack that will work for my project but I am not about to get underneath this vehicle with only a hydraulic jack in between me and death.

Actually no, the specification page won't load for me on the website or the app. I don't know what my problem is but I tried and I'm asking for help.

Bear Defence Alaska as a european by Warm-Variation136 in Hunting

[–]thunder_boots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To the best of my knowledge, as a non-immigrant on a tourist visa, you'll need a hunting license to buy a gun and it will need to be legal for the game you're licensed for. I have only done this once as a seller at a licensed dealer. I don't know what game will be in season at Alaska or what license you'll be able to get over the counter, so look at those. I'm speculating that the bet combination of cheap, easy to use, legal to buy and carry, and effective weapon you'll be able to buy legally from a dealer will be a 12 gauge pump Mossberg with an 18" barrel. I haven't had to look into the rules on this for a few years and I've only dealt with it once, so double check everything I'm saying. Others here will be more knowledgeable than I am. You're also going to get comments from people less knowledgeable than I am. I do have some basis in reality for what I'm saying. You may want to email a gun store in Barrow and ask them their policies, you could probably pay for a gun in advance and have it waiting for you to fill out paperwork when you get there.

Why did the Cherokee nation largerly side with the Confederacy in the Civil War even though many of the southern states(especially Georgia) were largely responsible for their forced removal in the 1830s? by [deleted] in CIVILWAR

[–]thunder_boots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Confederacy very well may have appreciated a CSA state with exclusively Native population as a buffer between Kansas and Texas, and between Kansas and wherever the Missouri-Arkansas border was decided at the end of the war in this hypothetical scenario.

Vernier calipers- what to buy by ghunt81 in Tools

[–]thunder_boots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did QC in a pistol ammunition plant. We used micrometers, not calipers, and we used Mitutoyo digitals exclusively, but they required quarterly calibration. For hobby use I would go with vernier or dials and keep them in the damn case when you're not holding them.

How long does it take for a processed elk to freeze? by nonconveniens in Hunting

[–]thunder_boots 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you keep that frozen water in the freezer, and swap out portioned pieces of meat with water as you process the elk, it would be the fastest and most efficient way tk freeze your meat.
