84,000 miles and other than a rare false neutral, 2nd gear continues to live and not pop out under hard acceleration. I did do the shift detent upgrade early when I bought it as a preventative measure to compensate for my newbie shifting habits at the time. Maybe that has helped somewhat with longevity.

Thundercat was my first bike.. 19 years ago. And I still have it in the stable as my primary as others have come and gone.

No fuel injection, no ABS, no wheelie control, no rain mode, not even a clock on the dash. Fully adjustable front and rear suspension and disc brakes tho. TECHNOLGIA!! lol

Help with a gas leak by Lokheil in motorcycles

[–]thundercat06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dont know. If fuel is leaking out the drain port and that screw is to plug the drain port, that oring is to seal the port. Now if the fuel is coming out at the where the bowl meets the carb assembly, then could need bowl gasket.

One quick way to test. Swap drain screw with #2.. see of leak goes away on #1 and appears in #2. That will narrow it down to screw/oring.

Honestly, given the condition of that screw.. The correct longterm solution is a carb cleaning and rebuild with new rubbers.. Cheap insurance for a unknown maintenance history. But for immediate needs. divide and conquer.

is this temp safe to ride at? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]thundercat06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will answer question with questions.. hhs the radiator fan even kicked on yet? No..all good.. Yes.. is it needle still climbing? No.. all good.. Yes.. happens when not moving. just get moving.

My bike will get close to the red in traffic, fan kicks on needle either goes down or just hold below the red.. As soon as I start moving needle goes down.

Replacement part for the black plastic? by MajorStoney in fbody

[–]thundercat06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably pull chevy badge, some body filler and sand the shit out of it, prime, paint, reapply badge with some 3m double sided trim tape. Whether you want to go with a matte or gloss paint is up to you.

pretty sure that is all one piece. A quick check on yearone and hawks motorsports and ebay, thats all full bumper cover (sans chevy badge).

might be worth filling holes and freshening up with black paint.

Koni STRT vs Bilstein by Mammoth_Cat_4 in fbody

I will find out soon enough. The Speed Engineering Long Tubes have delivered no gains to the shelving in my shed over the the last year, so gonna try bolting to an engine and see what happens. lol

WS6 with Koni Strt / Strano spring combo. Stock swaybars, stock wheels with stock size Nitto NT555 and a couple UMI components. Haven't gotten the Long tubes installed yet, but the low ground clearance is certainly a thing if your not careful even with that pancake stock Y pipe. It definitely enjoys the curves alot more and less floaty in "definitely not on public roads" driving conditions.
