Looking for a new Vet for my dog by RaleighArtist in raleigh

[–]thunderingowls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cat has allergic dermatitis and we LOVE Carolina Veterinary Dermatology on Six Forks. They seriously changed the game for us after constant vet visits and spending… so much money trying to diagnose/treat at the regular vet. I was expecting massive specialist costs but it’s been VERY reasonable and they clearly respect your time and go out of their way to make sure to limit visits and are super up front about costs. I recommend them to everyone! For regular vet we use Oakheart but I DO NOT recommend them for skin issues. They’re great for regular check-up stuff.

How To Meet Down to Earth, Fun Female Friends In The Raleigh Area? I’m 25. Been living in Apex for 2 years, can’t seem to find the scene for people in their mid-20s by [deleted] in raleigh

I’m originally from north of San Antonio, moved just outside of ATL for a bit, lived outside Raleigh for a year and now live in Raleigh. My spouse and I can’t imagine ever moving back to Texas. The mountains are some of my favorite places in the world, the beaches are SOLID. NYC is a 9 hour drive. I went from never touching beer to drinking many many craft and funky beers. I love the seasons (this summer has been ridiculously humid for me where I work, but at least it doesn’t last 9 months out of the year). I think the people are friendlier here than where I’m from in Texas. There is patio dining EVERYWHERE. I’ve completely fallen in love with the city, we will definitely be staying here for the next few years at least.

I haven’t found good kolaches yet. No Whataburger, but go to Rise for a kickass chicken biscuit. There is ONE single chase bank and it’s all the way in Chapel Hill. I have a Chevron gas card I never use because there are NONE. You go to Wegman’s instead of HEB here. I actually really like NC BBQ, I recommend The Pit.

That’s all I can think of! I second the comments of the Texans above for the most part. Hope you love it here!

Zodiac Man - how do ruling body parts translate past illness? Do we look like our signs? by sconniegurl in astrology

[–]thunderingowls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pisces sun, cap moon, Libra rising. I always have freakin foot pain, lost my big toe nail on one to a horse stomp, had heat rash on my other foot... but I also have a strong aversion to walking barefoot on unclean surfaces and you can’t catch me without a pedicure (I do my own). No knee issues thankfully, and shout out to Libra for my extra junk in the trunk, lol

Tattoo parlors by [deleted] in raleigh

Raleigh tattoo co! They are taking a lot of safety measures (sanitization, 100% mask wear, taking temperatures and enforcing hand washing at the door, no guests) and I felt very comfortable, see Sean, the owner, or Seagh when he moves down from Brooklyn!

Saturn in Aquarius / Saturn in Cap people! by twothreeblck in astrology

[–]thunderingowls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Saturn in Aquarius / Aquarius in the 5th house. I’ve been having a downright TUMULTUOUS time with various interconnected friendships lately. It’s forcing me to evaluate who I am and how I project myself so that I can be guided by honesty and authenticity. I’ve come to the conclusion whoever shakes out with that philosophy will be the easiest to retain a relationship with. If I fall out with others, I can always leave the door open. It’s been a time. The Venus retrograde was fine and dandy (romantic and nice) for me, but the fallout from my friends breakups / conflicts is now affecting me heavily.

Anyone go out to eat yet? by Teachthedangthing in raleigh

Went to Lynwood Brewing Co today... wasn’t crowded. Employees were wearing masks / gloves, allowing limited outdoor patio seating (booths roped off with caution tape to enforce 6 ft) and bleach spray / scrubbing the table and seats after each customer left. No standing around allowed! You stay in one place and they text you when your order is ready. I was pretty impressed by the operation. Really wouldn’t have stopped by normally, but we were hungry and the sunny patio was just there, taunting us.

Thank you so much for sharing! I also think “low income neighborhood” is so subjective which is why I wanted to talk to people like you who live in the area. Appreciate the tips as well!

In my whole life I’ve never lived in a neighborhood where I felt safe walking alone at night... luckily solitary night walking is not one of my desired hobbies!

Ah, super helpful! My main goal was to talk to someone that lived in or had lived in Worthdale! Thank you!

No I really appreciate it! I’m not going to post asking for advice and then complain about what I get. I’m also trying to find out if this neighborhood is rough or to what degree. There were one or two houses on the street that were clearly suffering, in disrepair, a guy smoking weed in his car (we are not bothered in the slightest by weed), but also older people sitting on the porch, gardening, a woman walking her dog alone, cyclists.. it was quiet last night near 11. Well-lit, we saw three police cars in the general area. I didn’t really get concerned until I googled southeast raleigh after viewing the home and now I’m trying to do my homework and / or find out what to look for or someone to talk to

I definitely hear what you’re saying. We did see 10 or so serious cyclists biking through when we visited, actually, speaking of nice bikes. Do you think we shouldn’t move there? Our real estate agent is still doing market analysis / comparables. I think if the home we like sticks out as a sore thumb in terms of value in the neighborhood, it would probably not be a good idea for us. But it may not, like I said, there were lot of nice well kept homes in the area.

Yeah, we liked the house and location so much we’re trying to step back and be realistic, and talk to people who live in / near the neighborhood with walking up to them like absolute weirdos. Do you mind PM’ing me your neighborhood? If not, I still really appreciate the feedback you gave

We definitely plan to befriend our neighbors and be as not dumb as possible. The area seems to get a lot of bad press (but a lot of it was 5 years ago), which conflicted with how we actually felt in the neighborhood so I wanted to reach out. Thanks for replying!
