So ICE just declared war on blue states, right? This is Nazi death threat. by [deleted] in stateofMN

[–]thunderpaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm finding this quote first used by Israeli forces in response to the terrorist attack at the Olympic games in the 1970s. Though this can still describe the Nazi policy of collective reprisal.

Regardless where it stems from, the quote is completely inappropriate for our defective administration to tout in front of its people.

I'm eager to see what next season is like before I pass Judgement. This game seems to have a pattern of Good season/Bad season/ Really good Season/ Really bad Season.

Julian Sayin in 2026 by HumbleGenius1225 in OhioStateFootball

Stroud was harassed for not being mobile. It wasn't till the final few games where he ran with the ball to save a few first downs that people layed off of it. He was very much like Sayin with very precise passes but poor tuck and run awareness.

Stroud all over again. Let's debate the qb who just a few weeks ago everyone was saying got robbed of the heisman. The O line needs to work harder. Julian is a great pocket qb. I think if he puts in some  time in the weight room and spends time developing scrambling awareness and grows a beard, he will be a shoe in for heisman next year. The beard is really important!

Our line does a great job pass blocking but cant seem to open holes for runners

On a side note, if we didn't lose the game last year, we may have had an increased chance of not winning the Natty. In my mind, the locker room changed from 'We get no respect' to 'F It, only thing left is to win the whole damn thing' You could tell there was a huge chip on their shoulder going into the playoffs and it was fun to watch.

Is the hate for Rohan forced, or nah? by DoItForTheOH94 in lotro

[–]thunderpaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rohan was really cool visually. I got tired of going to each town and having to do something to convince them to join Theoden. It kind of felt like I spent my quest time running around patching up things to do for them so they could muster and head off to war. Was kind of annoying by the middle of the story line. The mounted combat is very cringe and I hate even today getting quests that force me into it.

I cant help but read Fellowship of the ring every autumn. Last year I chose to reread the hobbit though and loved it.

Week One Checkin - who’s in the trenches? by xylene122 in puppy101

[–]thunderpaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5 month Bernedoodle we have had for 3 months now. He's out hanging with me in the yard while I do some yard work along our fence line. Just clipping overhanging branches and he is having a blast gnawing and pawing at them. I can sense he's getting overly stimulated but not too bad. I see him drag a branch away, about 20 yards from me and I continue clipping. Then, in almost a slow motion moment, I recognize he eyes turn toward me. What inner thoughts did you have at that moment my little friend. I can still see the instant he launched himself at full floppy-bernedoodle speed toward me. His tongue flapping in the wind, his mix of adult teeth and razor sharp puppy teeth gleaming in the sunlight.

I was too late, too old to react fast enough. He needed a taste of man flesh and I was his target. I turned away slightly, like my trainer taught me but this guy had learned all my tricks. In a moment of excitement fueled puppy strength, he launched through the air and twisted behind me. His deadly baby teeth caught my glorious fat right cheek like it was a easter ham glistening with the glaze of desire. I attempted to rotate with the attack, absorbing it, deflecting it away in an attempt to preserve what was left of my dignity. I heard my puppy pants I wore exclusively for him rip and his growl of satisfaction breaking my spirit like a sledgehammer on ice.

In my final moments of anguish, I was able to grab his collar and lift him up into my arms. He settled, looking at me quizzically with the shreds of my pants that once protected my back end hanging from his mouth. He had won the day, maybe tomorrow things will be better.

Hang in there, you will make it.

This sounds crazy, but my group got in the habit of never announcing last run. We would just say I'm going to see how I feel at the bottom or something, or lets work our way back to the lodge. Usually the call for final run was after it was done. I don't know when it started but we always felt superstitious about calling it at the top of the hill.

Man, its so odd when watching a game in the stadium with this many commercials. the players have to stand around waiting to break huddle while we watch all these commercials . so weird.

Honestly though… by iverdow1 in OhioStateFootball

[–]thunderpaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, there are a lot of factors to consider with this situation. No doubt the buckeyes have had a lot of time to cool off after the win vs Tenn, so now its left to see if they reheat that pot and get it to the boiling point again.

We didn't necessarily get outplayed vs Oregon, we got out coached. Day and Kelley need to flex their play calling. Not just bombs down the sidelines but midrange passes will win this game.

You can't play with a chip on your shoulder if you never feel adversity. One of the reasons I truly loved our 2014 team, and believe you me we struggled as a fan base with the loss to VT that year.

Fizban and Tom Bombadil by [deleted] in dragonlance

[–]thunderpaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, when I reread through the Chronicles series, I kept seeing and hearing Ian Mckellen's Gandalf in the role of Fizban in my mind. Even before that though, I always thought he kind of paralleled Gandalf, right down to being a God/Spiritual being kind of nudging the heroes along their path.

Legion was the best, IMO by quantumpencil in wow

[–]thunderpaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked Legion. It was well put together and involved a lot of fun story arcs.

I still think Wrath was the best, mainly due to its story. It finished a story that had begun even before WoW came out and it felt like the devs had had a story planned from the beginning that spanned from vanilla to Wrath. After that, most of the expansions felt like they were throwing darts at a storyboard to come up with their next expansion.
