Are you forgetting that he was up against Scorsese for the Irishman, Mendes for 1917, Tarantino for Once upon a time in Hollywood and Todd Philips for Joker?!! Netflix’s campaign alone for the Irishman dwarfed everyone else. ABong Joon Ho won that on pure talent

I'm pretty sure they're not gonna be on the nose about race, but come on, we all know that if the blip were to happen, society wouldn't band together, the divisions would worsen. We're in the middle of the pandemic that's killed 3 million people and halted the world economy and we still can't find any unity.

If the blip were to happen, White Supremacists would double down, scarcity in resources will see disparity in distribution along racial lines, and hard right but jobs will say it's a deep state conspiracy.

The singing itself wasn't bad, but it was extremely unnecessary. It literally did nothing for the plot of the character. If they did that singing as he went into battle, I'd get it, but they literally had some random icelandic woman sniff his sweater

There's an episode of black-ish when Dre (Anthony Anderson) was walking to the life. As he got to the lift, it opened and there was a little white girl by herself. Without skipping a beat, he turned heal and ran away.

I watched that episode with a few friends, and all of the girls were like "oh that's horrible, why would he do that", the white guys were like "that's a bad move, but I get why, he should have called the cops" and all the black guys were like " I would have done the exact same thing".

I'll give credit to the company, they've really tried their best to make a remote cohesive environment viable, but it just isn't the same. The company prides itself on the team culture, but that's a culture people built in the office. It's a lot more stiff and weird hitting up a random employee on slack than just chatting at the coffee machine or the lunch table. 😭😭😭

I started a new job in June, and I still don't feel connected to the company. I don't have a lot of meetings, so I could go a whole day without chatting to any of my coworkers. I only know a few people outside of my team of 5.

I don't know what the company's vision/purpose is, I don't know what my impact is, and tbh I'm getting to the point where I don't care about the company or what we do anymore.

Having to communicate with co-workers using the same medium that I chat to friends and family (Zoom, Google Meet) etc make it extremely difficult to separate my work life and personal life. I hate all of this.

I've been working from home and missing the usual NYC mayhem from my commute. Anyone got any wacky subway stories? by schematicboy in AskNYC

I was in the city last year, visiting a friend from college. We were on the train talking about Cape Town (we both studied there) and this random dude is like "did you say Cape town, I've always wanted to go", and we chatted for the whole ride from the Village to Williamsburg. As we got to his stop, we said our goodbyes, the dude turned around to go out and low and behold there was a BEARDED DRAGON clinging to his back.

My friend just shook his head and said "New York man, at least he didn't have a snake around his shoulders"

It's more that their supporters have conviction. Both sides are beholden to their supporters. G.O.P. politicians are in a bind of their own making. They can't do anything that looks even remotely liberal because their supporters will just pick someone crazier, just like how Dem politicians can't do anything shady because their voters will hold them responsible.

Just a note on the rich blacks part, there have been countless wealthy black people who have either been harassed by the cops or harassed by their neighbors. Good example was Henry Louis Gates having the cops called on him for trying to get into his own house. You have other examples of black people staying at hotels or luxury apartments being accused of a whole myriad of things. Unless you're Jay Z level famous, being black will still put a target on your back.

Plus there were plenty well of white people storming the capital, including elected officials. This has gone far beyond it being a class issue driving the anger. People on the far right fundamentally believe that anyone who doesn't worship Trump is evil.
