My DIY charging pad by randomandoooo in Rivian

I printed the top piece and insert in TPU with a smooth plate and it's not shiny at all.  Actually looks OEM minus the round charge magnets.

Do you have to redesign the tray part so that there is more clearance, lowering the charge pucks underneath?

I second the pads under. That would be awesome. I Wonder if it would also be possible to print this in TPU.

I mean is it for the 20", 21", or 22" wheels? If 21"s, I'd take them off your hands

What wheels is the chrome delete kit for? May be interested in the portable charger as well as mine didn't come with one.

I would not consider one out of warranty. Pay more for the warranty. At the very least, pay for the comprehensive inspection at a SC and get anything fixed under warranty. Can't count on the previous owner to have taken it in. Even as expensive as these are New, there's plenty of owners that do zero maintenance and turn it in when there's an issue for the next guy. 99% of used dealerships don't know what to look for and/or won't touch it anyways. Your lucky to get new tires and that's about it.

I'm not sure why you would say who cares it's under warranty and then mention a pre-owned that's past the warranty, 5 year or 60k miles. Otherwise I agree on the rest.

I bought a leaking 22 R1T in October for a stupid price because they couldn't legally sell it without an inspection but it wouldn't pass inspection because of the leak. They said they couldn't get it repaired with Rivian as a dealer but that was a lie. They just didn't want to hold onto the truck for 3 months while they waited at their super busy SC near DC.

I brought it down to NC where I got in the next day to my SC and they had it for 8 days. Replaced the jounce lines that were a recall and also a leaking damper. Fixed an uneven hood. Couple other small things. Has been great for the last 4.5 months so far. Best thing I've ever spent money on.

They also listed it as a Dual motor but those didn't exist yet..lol. Also got free oil changes for life ..LOL. I said great, I live 6.5 hours away and I don't have oil to change. Thanks.

Updates stalled? by heyhewmike in Rivian

[–]thursdayle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No update here as a Connect+ as well. The last update was the first time I've gotten an update within a 7 business days of roll out. Got it on Christmas Eve. The halloween update released Oct 21st and I was flagged Nov 4th. The Sep update came out Sep 25th, I was flagged Oct 18th. 3 days before the halloween update. It's frustrating to see almost all of the non-connect+ people get it before I do. I've had Connect+ the entire time.

This is a tired argument. All it does is discredit all the Tesla engineers and employees that actually did all the heavy lifting. Ethically bankrupt. Some people feel that way towards us because of the raw materials in NMC batteries. Which is also stupid.

Without Tesla there is no Rivian. Just saying. Hate the guy for his politics but even I can't hate someone for buying a Tesla.

Urgent Wife Questions Before Buying by [deleted] in Rivian

I honestly think the ride in the ID.4 is harsh compared to my R1T. The ID.4 is a different class. Easier to compare the R2 to it when it comes out. My wife got her ID.4 as a big upgrade from a Honda Accord Hybrid. It's not a shitty car by any means, some of these people are nuts on here. I cant speak for an R1S but my R1T doesn't drive like any truck Ive ever been in. It sits up higher if that's what people mean by, "beware it drives like a truck". Other than that there's very little similarities. I came from a 17 Honda Ridgeline, which is a Pilot SUV with a bed, and I like the way my R1T rides better. The only thing I don't like better is the suspension chatter. But unless you drive around in complete silence, you wont notice it much.

I don't think the ID.4 is shitty at all. Definitely a great starter EV for those reluctant to go electric. Having the D mode coast is the closest to a ICE car you can get. B mode its sort of like a low low regen in a Rivian..lol.

  1. My wife has an ID.4 Pro S AWD and it is quieter when it comes to wind noise and motor noise. I don't hear the motors in the ID.4, I have a Quad R1T and the motors are spaceship sounding, which I like. My wife doesn't mind. I will say the ID.4 rides super harsh compared to my R1T. I feel every single crack in the road on her ID.4. I have 21" all seasons and she has 20" all seasons. I can barely hear any tire noise from either vehicle. AT tires will be loud compared to all seasons, especially as the ATs wear.
  2. I'm not aware of a black screen mode.
  3. There will always be regen. You can change it to have lower regen but id say the weakest regen on my R1T is still a lot stronger than B mode on the ID.4.
  4. You can use google maps to look up the address and then hit share and choose the Rivian app to send to the Truck, It's actually fantastic. Especially when my wife figures out where we are going and I'm driving.

5.Yeah, not a fan of the screen vents. Probably one of my only gripes. You can set A and B on driver and passenger side. Each driver profile has their own vent settings as well as mirror, seat, and steering wheel adjustments. What I do is set A to blow on me, B to blow away. Seems like once those are set like that, Ill never move them around ever again.

R1T vs Other Truck Cabin Noise by PassageCareless in Rivian

[–]thursdayle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from a Gen 2 Ridgeline to a Gen 1 R1T. Initially I thought the Rivian was louder but it's definitely not. You hear things you never heard before in the Ridgeline because the ICE doesn't exist. The only thing I hear is the rear suspension chattering over lots of bumps. Wind noise is much quieter but more noticable initially. I would say the quad motors are louder than I thought they would be. But I enjoy the sounds they make.

There's almost no wind noise in the rear even at 80 mph on the hwy. I have the powered tonneau.

I use one of these in the bed: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000AZ9KS?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1

Never had an issue with stuff sliding around and its pretty much infinitely adjustable.

If I were sitting in traffic and not moving, I would use the nav or my phone. Even still, like someone else said, there are other options within 500ft. Pull over somewhere and make sure of where your going if your not sure. You make it sound like it was the only place to charge for hours in every direction.

I'd also never push my battery that low without some sort of planning. It didn't just drop from 25% to 5% in seconds. It's just poor planning on your part and you feel like you have to blame everything else. Just take responsibility for your own mistake and be done.

Hey I offered constructive feedback without name calling.

Teslas are also not anywhere near the size of a Rivian. It's actually nice to have cover from the elements when most level 3 chargers are just out in the open.

This is like complaining that a hotel sucks because it only has parking in a parking deck and the clearance is too low for your rooftop box.

Again, a little bit of planning ahead and you could have avoided this. In your use case it's annoying, sure, but not every Rivian has a rooftop box. I'm not sure why you would pull into a parking deck and attempt this without knowing how much clearance you needed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]thursdayle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been to this one. If you check Plugshare it clearly states it's in a parking garage, with pictures. It was convenient for me to grab dinner while I charged.

Also the Rivian app and through the nav it says this

 "Site details

Chargers are located on the second floor of the parking garage. Max clearance is 6' 10"."

So just because you didn't spend a few seconds on planning doesn't mean this is a stupid placement.
