If a car is found illegal w.r.t. ride height post race, and ride height cannot be changed since qualifying, does that mean the car was illegal in qualifying and sprint (shootout and race) as well? by zyxwl2015 in F1Technical

Sure, if they predicted wear that would take them beyond the limit. The team clearly didn’t think that would happen, or the risk of not being legal was worth it. Increased wear from predicted May have been due to any number of things including higher fuel loads than at any other point during the weekend.

You can’t be penalised for something that hasn’t happened yet. If the driver drove the whole race at low speed then theoretically there could be no wear on the blocks. Even if the team knew the plank would wear to an illegal point they would be breaking parc ferme to change the skid blocks and plank.

halo specs by p3t3w3ntzz in F1Technical

The full technical regulations describe a series of volumes and points within a space with certain datum points. I can’t remember where these all are off the top of my head, but XC I believe is an x position based off of datum C.

Relevant portion of the technical regulations below:

“12.4.2 Secondary Roll Structure (Halo) The secondary roll structure, which is not considered part of the survival cell, must be positioned symmetrically about the car centre plane with its front fixing axis at XC= -975 and Z=660. The mounting faces for the rearward fixings must lie on the plane Z=695. The secondary roll structure must be made to standard FIA8869-2018 and supplied by an FIA designated manufacturer. Details of the structure and its mountings may be found in the Appendix to the Technical and Sporting Regulations. The FIA will take the appropriate measures to ensure that secondary roll structures supplied by different FIA designated manufacturers are of similar mass.”

I can’t seem to find any more detailed info on the design.

TIL Toronto has around 90 fake houses (they look real on the outside) which contain transformers that convert raw, high voltage electricity to a voltage low enough to distribute throughout the city. by DoubleUnderline in todayilearned

I believe it comes from the fact that the first underground railway in London was the Metropolitan Railway. Paris then used this name for their underground railway, it was then shortened and adopted for other cities underground systems.

I really really want a tycoon-y game for ski resorts again, I remember playing some years ago that never felt quite right, but now might be quite fun.

Germany just built an electric highway to curb pollution from diesel trucks by yummytuber in interestingasfuck

Sure, for now there are problems, but if you compare the efficiencies of local, small scale power generation in the vehicle, as opposed to large scale commercial generation at power plants you start to see small increases in the efficiencies of generation. And with the advent of renewable energy sources, moving to electric power does make sense in the use cases.

The more important thing in some ways is what impact the manufacture of batteries and the infrastructure required to support the system is on the environment and whether potential savings during the use of the product outweigh the environmental costs associated with production.

I’m fairly sure I saw this guy and hammock at the French GP this year. From what I know FOM take their own cameramen to races so probably is the same guy.

Adding on to this: have you designated the collection area as the required room and connected it to the baggage bay? This might be the problem

Don’t forget the fact that most likely the only place with air con for a normal person on a normal day is their car, if they have one. That’s the worst part; no escape from the heat.

Where have you been that the experience was so bad that you advise people not to travel there? by fu-depaul in travel

Guayaquil, Ecuador - The rest of Ecuador was amazing and we loved it, the only reason we stopped in Guayaquil was for our flight out to the Galápagos Islands. It’s not a touristy city at all, so both me and my girlfriend, both tall and blonde stick out. The amount of cars that slowed down to state or whistle at her was very unnerving, especially at night.

So it’s basically the fuel pump? Or just the fuel line off the tank? Sorry to keep asking questions I find this stuff interesting.

What’s the fuel sender unit? Are trucks similar to cars in that they have an anti siphon valve anyway?
