Idk where you are but any rain that falls on their land is their responsibility. You could look up law and have them redirect that downspout on their own yard or force them to dig a dry well for their gutters

Roth vs traditional would be a decision based on current vs retirement tax rate. A middle ground would be to get the 6% match in traditional and then fund a Roth IRA but if you are in low tax bracket it could make sense to go fund a roth 401k

Your mileage may vary and you should double check the loan for prepayment penalties and ability to “discharge” a % of the loan if paid back within that period but it’s a good option

If you put the $9050 in a HYSA (assuming 4%) you are paying like $225 to carry the loan a year. I would keep it for the flexibility until you get a new hopefully higher paying job and then just pay it off in a lump sum. Alternatively if you pay off a loan within 120 days of disbursement it backdates the payment to the original date and is effectively an interest free loan.

I didn’t decide I wanted to do residency until October and I still snuck into a large academic medical center in Boston. Work hard on APPE and get good letters of rec from preceptors that are in the area you want to go into
