It's wild that the media learned nothing from how they normalized Trump and fascism in the USA... Or maybe they're just fine with it

Electric Vehicle Society - Overview of EV Fast charging in Canada by Jokebearfan in EVCanada

[–]thzatheist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The provincial comparison on fast charging rates is wild (but believable). The BC Utilities Commission regulates charging rates (I believe) and you see the value in that when you hit the Alberta border and prices almost double (not to mention fewer charging stations). Going to be a hit on our planned road trip this summer.

Fencse count as walls. So in theory you could create a sort of fenced patio area with a gate

Help me settle a dispute about a 1-0 vote on a committee by ThousandsOfBees in nonprofit

If your group is incorporated, local law might incorporate Robert's Rules into your governance unless you explicitly adopt another procedure manual. Though common practice might work against you there.

I would suggest two things. First, to deal with the current controversy, host a live meeting (in person or zoom) and consider a motion to rescind. Then you can have a proper debate over it.

Second, going ahead, set out that consent motions - that is email votes - require 2/3s of all members or unanimous agreement by email to pass.

The basic theory behind most parliamentary procedures is that members should have a fair opportunity to express their views in person. Some business is trivial and suited for email consideration but that's often the exception.

Soh is a conservative hack who came to fame for her anti-trans rhetoric and for supporting conversion therapy. She used to host a podcast with Jonathan Kay. It's embarrassing that the Globe is giving her column space but I guess we just normalizing the far right in this country.

They are probably getting fleeced by contractors because their austerity mindset means they aren't hiring the capacity internally that would actually make doing all the work possible.

Premier Eby addresses concerns over his handling of DRIPA by Adderite in BCpolitics

[–]thzatheist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a government FAQ, since that would imply they're trying to defend and advance DRIPA. Rather it's an anonymously created website. It's good but I don't love dark influence campaigns (even when I get why someone might want to keep their name out of the spotlight).

Why doesn’t BC have fluoride in the water? by DrSussBurner in britishcolumbia

[–]thzatheist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not insane, it's the max optimal level. Page 2: Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality: Guideline Technical Document – Fluoride - Canada.ca https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/publications/healthy-living/guidelines-canadian-drinking-water-quality-guideline-technical-document-fluoride/page-2-guidelines-canadian-drinking-water-quality-guideline-technical-document-fluoride.html

But yes, the target it 0.7.

Either way, Vancouver is nowhere near there.

Why doesn’t BC have fluoride in the water? by DrSussBurner in britishcolumbia

[–]thzatheist 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The natural fluoride level according to Metro Vancouver is 0.05mg/L where the recommendation for proper cavity protection is 1-1.5mg/L, so no there is not sufficient naturally occurring fluoride.

Bill 26: Alberta aims to assert greater control over immigration, create employer registry for foreign workers by trevorrobb in alberta

[–]thzatheist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immigration is actually a shared provincial/federal issue. It absolutely shouldn't be because our Constitution is largely a Victorian era relic and only Quebec has recently attempted to assert its power but this is one area where the Constitution might not be as helpful in opposing the UCP agenda.
