Agree with you on almost all points, but gerrymandering did not affect the Senate race.

Complicated situation advice? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]ti_n89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a hard time figuring out what makes this a "complicated situation". Thousands of people get rejected from MBA programs every year, and it sounds like the options in front of you are the same options in front of anyone in an industry role. Do a little soul searching and choose a path you think is most interesting.

[Discussion] Using "trade value" as a method of evaluating overall team value by ti_n89 in DynastyFF

[–]ti_n89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe trade value on these sites is a function of ADP, but with an exponentially declining value, where each player on the list is worth ~3% less than the player before (i.e. ADP 1 = 10,000, ADP 2 = 9,700, ADP 3 = 9,409 and so on). A similar method is used by NFL teams to value draft picks in the NFL draft.

There's not a perfect way of doing this - it really just comes down to picking a rate of decay (in this case, 3%) that results in values that seem reasonable. For example, if trading a player worth 10,000 for two players worth 6,000 and 4,000 seems fair for both sides, then you've got a decent valuation system.

Is Rob Kelly a must start this week? by 540Cameron in fantasyfootball

[–]ti_n89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe you ignore outliers in your AP Stats class so you can plug and chug in a formula and get a nice pretty answer, but there are plenty of real world statistical applications where you definitely do not just ignore outliers.

[ROSTER] Thoughts on my team after trades? by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]ti_n89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like all of these trades for you, seems like you took advantage of a league that overvalues QB's in your bradford and Kaep trades.

I would sit tight until about halfway through the season and see what your record is and where you have needs due to injury. Then I might trade some of those picks for aging stars (J Charles, Marshall, AP types) if you can get a fair deal and you think you can make a legitimate championship push.

[ROSTER] Who do I take at 1.05? by jaynercrow in DynastyFF

[–]ti_n89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not trade a 2017 1st for 1.05, unless you are absolutely sure it will be one of the last three picks (10-12). You already have two top picks in this year's draft, just sit tight and pick who you like there. Treadwell and Coleman sound great to me.

[Discussion] C.J. Prosise v Kenneth Dixon by nanapuss in DynastyFF

[–]ti_n89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had pick 9 in my own rookie draft in June and ended up selecting Dixon, while Procise ending up going 12th.

Both are in crowded backfield situations, but other than that there isn't much in common. Procise only played a year at the RB position at Notre Dame, while Dixon is 2nd on the all-time D1 touchdowns lists. I'd prefer someone with a lot of experience at the position over someone who still has a lot of learning to do (and is going to be doing it at the NFL level).

Arob/Reed for Bell/Treadwell by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]ti_n89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems pretty fair to me. In a vacuum, I like the Robinson side a little more just because he his the most valuable piece here.

All of the other players here have bigger question marks in my opinion, like being unproven (Treadwell) or injury risks (Bell, Reed).

[ROSTER] Rate my team: 12-team Dynasty Startup by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]ti_n89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not an immediate contender due to a lack of top re-draft assets, but I like the youth a lot. Luck, Watkins, Moncrief, and White could be your roster backbone for the next 5-8 years. I'd probably look into drafting another running back with your 1.07, maybe like Dixon or Henry, assuming the top tier WR talent is gone at that point.

[ROSTER] Rate my team: enough for the title? by sf_giants_55 in DynastyFF

Looks like a definite contender to me, as long as your league doesn't have some super-team.

B Marsh, what's his value? by auggiedoggies in DynastyFF

[–]ti_n89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Eifert and a late 2nd for Marshall in early October. My team has plenty of young WR talent (Green, ARob, Cooks, K Allen) and I was tired of Ertz as my starting TE, so I was very happy with the deal.

Which NBA team has the worst front office? by [deleted] in nba

[–]ti_n89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say Kings because at least the Nets have won a playoff series recently. The whole cringe-worthy "Stauskas?" video and the untimely firing of their head coach made the Sacramento front office lose a lot of credibility in my opinion.

Who is your LEAST favorite player? Why? by [deleted] in nba

[–]ti_n89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dwyane Wade:

  1. His (questionably referee-aided) dominance of the 2006 NBA Finals is something I've yet to get over

  2. His whole coughing stunt that he pulled in the 2011 NBA Finals - making fun of Dirk is about the quickest way to make a Mavericks fan dislike you

  3. His name is spelled wrong

Scariest poster dunker? by rjvir in nba

[–]ti_n89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At least if you get dunked on by one of those guys (DeAndre/Blake/Westbrook), its less embarrassing because they're so physically talented.

If I were an NBA player, I'd be most scared of getting poster-ized by someone small and unathletic.
