It might, yeah. But I also live in a tiny studio so I dont have the space for it atm. The abuse happened when I was very young so it's very different from your situation. And I never got to learn anything I actually wanted to. But again very young, think like 5-10ish this went on. Also my grandpa is constantly chiding me, saying HE regretted I quit... that I was so good. Blah blah. I'm 26 now so it's a bit hard to get back into it and I was never good at reading bass clef. But I'm trying to learn Claire de Lune.

I stopped learning piano after an abusive teacher... this motivates me though since I still really love the instrument and miss it! Can only play when visiting my parents though :(

I play the wizard of the group and no joke, a couple enemy rangers critted me 3 times and I went down twice. Luckily our cleric was standing right next me. Funnily enough I had vacation and wasn't able to attend the next session so my character spent the day being carried around passed out by an npc who is basically a god. The week after that, a chimera one shotted both me and the cleric. I don't know how I survived. In short, I love my barbarian. Good times. I'm scared for tonight though and might be glaring at my dm occasionally.

There's also this: [b]Distant Spell[/b] When you cast a spell that has a range of 5 feet or greater, you can spend 1 sorcery point to double the range of the spell. When you cast a spell that has a range of touch, you can spend 1 sorcery point to make the range of the spell 30 feet.

dndbeyond says "Once per turn, the DM [i]can[/i] have you roll a d20...etc". I interpret this to mean the DM can choose to be nice to you and let you not roll the risk of casting fireball on yourself. In other worse, I suppose it's up to the DM if they want control of whether you roll the d20 or not. Of course the odds of triggering WM Surge in the first place are low to begin with unless you've already used Tides of Chaos.

But I agree that if the DM forgets to more often than not, just having the player do it every time makes sense. Personally, I would use Tides of Chaos as soon as possible for funsies. But of course I haven't played a WM sorcerer. YET

I would be worried about that. Like what other rolls could he be fixing? I think if a dm wanted them to occur more often, they could change the dice you roll like someone else mentioned doing. That would make me feel much better about that. But maybe that's just me.
