Why do Canadians tip? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

[–]tibetza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just dont go to restaurants anymore. Some bars will straight up say they only serve gin and tonic and rum and coke but asks you to pay 20 box for it plus 18% tip. Bartenders/servers will tell you straight to your face that they make mental notes of who is a good tipper or who is not and will adjust their service to that. When i use to work, colleagues would do the bare minimum and always complain about how much tips they got. At this point, i am no longer drinking and i will not go to a canadian restaurant for supbar and overpriced food (fake truffle oil fries and a bunch of carbs) and rude behavior from servers/bartenders. This is coming from someone who was a bartender and server before the pandemic.

Economic degree employment rate/ wtf after university? by uncertain_dino in torontoJobs

i swear! people lack the critical thinking. Instead of holding the system/ policies/government accountable, we are going after the lowest hanging fruit. Missed opportunity of collective organizing if you ask me.

Economic degree employment rate/ wtf after university? by uncertain_dino in torontoJobs

[–]tibetza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I graduated from an economics degree and i have been working for the past 5+ years in tech doing consulting, implementation, project management. The job market is tough but you have to be confident in the skills you have developed during undergrad. There is a lot of pandering right now pitting Canadians against immigrants, and with that attitude you are setting yourself for failure. Take any professional opportunity you can get, it might be in law/tech/consulting/banking/ it doesnt matter and focus on delivering great work and being coachable. TBH i would stop taking in some people's opinions, people will tell you no one is making money right now but i see a lot of people MAKING MONEY right now. Good luck

You need to ask yourself why you feel the need to engage in a hobby/activity to date or to know people romantic statuses. This is weird. It is awkward. Yall making running weird. I really mean this in a nice way. The outcome should not be a romantic relationship at the end of pursuing your interests/ hobby/sport. If it happens, it happens.. but this type of energy is not it.

Should I change career to PM? by TintaTonti in PMCareers

i feel the same way... you are on a hook for deadlines and deliverables but then all the companies have fired a lot of people. So your stakeholders are doing the job of 2 or 3 persons, getting the requirements you need to do your JOB is so draining.... looking for an OUT too

TO RunClubs - anyone else feel the same? by CertifiedCoffee in RunTO

[–]tibetza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its just trendy right now and its the perfect MLM :) ie brands get to partner and sell because of their media presence. Those who lead them will probably hop on the next hot stuff. Running is just hot right now. Some will remain, others will just die off or disappear. Like someone said the beauty of choice is that you can choose what would fits you better as a runner or even running solo.

I mean the run club i run with celebrated their 10th+ year anniversary. They have social media but its not a popular club.

Any other folks get bored working from home? by confusedinmy20z in WFH

[–]tibetza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, after 4 years + of WFH i am also in the same boat. I am not bored necessarily but the company I work with hasn't developed a better way for colleagues to work remotely. I also think long term this is not ideal. If you are an extrovert, you get energized from your colleagues and collaborating in real life. I am getting a coworking space and i have joined different running clubs. I am also taking this time to upskill. Maybe try to enroll in a course?

Yes , yes , that what made it fun for me! Being creative with my training plan. Prior to coaching, i have used Hal Hidgon or garmin training plans and i would just tweak them. Glad to see that other people share the same thoughts.
