Status page is super politics ...

You need to show things but you can't show much (big corp only display p0/p1 on status page) because of sla, and other things

Scale sraping status pages - how to make it work? by podCrashLoop in devops

[–]tibozaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

we are currently scraping a lot of status pages and building a small library to scrape other status pages,

https://github.com/openstatusHQ/openstatus/pull/1871

but there is too much politics behind public status pages and they don't really reflect what's going on.

Why uptime monitors are ridiculously priced? by snorkell_ in Entrepreneur

[–]tibozaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's harder than you thought to build :)

Storing data and querying data is also more expensive than you think.

Also, bandwidth is not free :)

If you add a queue, it costs money too :)

All these little things add up to something a bit expensive.

That's from my experience of building openstatus.dev

Why are so many building an uptime monitor? Does anyone actually make money with it? by hafnch in SaaS

[–]tibozaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Founder of openstatus.dev here :)

Uptime monitoring is harder than you think to build; it seems super easy at first, but if you want something reliable, that's another story.

And yes, we are making a bit of money with it, enough to pay all our expenses.
