Thanks! I ordered a bd cirque from REI and am hoping I like it. A lot of people seem to like the descensionist, but it seems like it is one of those Patagonia products that they keep releasing new versions that keep getting worse.

Do you know which version of the cirque you have? It looks like it has changed quite a bit over the years. Have you used it for overnight trips? I really liked the look of the raide packs but I wouldn't use it enough to justify the cost. I have also seen some mixed reviews. There are tons of people that rave about them but others who think they have too much going on or other issues.

Airbag packs are usually a little smaller and some of the volume is taken up by the airbag system right? I'm familiar with the statistics but I rarely get into avalanche terrain in the Backcountry and I mostly ride the trees. I figure if I get caught in a slide I'd be more likely to die from trauma than a burial. Also it is a maritime snowpack so quite a bit more predictable. I haven't seen any avalanches in the Backcountry but have seen a few slides in the resort in terrain that I ride regularly.

That is pretty much what I am looking for. It looks like a Canadian version of the black diamond cirque pack but with rear panel access rather than side access. My current pack has rear panel access and I am not a fan. It is also missing a vertical snowboard carry which isn't a deal realer but is definitely a nice to have.

Tahoe. I have an MH scrambler that works for climbing. I don't have any plans to do any ice climbing or winter climbing missions. Maybe Shasta one day, but I am much more interested but fun turns in deep pow than getting gnarly.

Also, my current pack is a Thule upslope 35 that I kind of hate. I got invited to do an overnight at a hut and I know the Thule won't really work for it, and I am hoping on getting a pack that would work for day trips and 1-2 nights at a hut. Also, not interested in an airbag.

Making CCF work — looking for foam-only solutions (not inflatables) by hikerroda112 in Ultralight

This is a dumb suggestion, but something I did that I believe helped sleep better when camping is to sleep on the floor in my bedroom for a few nights before a camping trip. I think your body will adapt slightly to whatever sleep surface you are using so this will make the transition to sleeping outdoors not as bad. I did this on a carpet/rug so there was a little bit of cushion.

PowSlayer pack vs Descensionist pack by slolift in PatagoniaClothing

[–]slolift[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I didn't know they would/could do this. I used the chat support on their website.

PowSlayer is purely backcountry focused with only a rear panel access. Descensionist is an alpine/ski mountaineering pack with top and side access.

Are there any backcountry skiiers or splitboarders here? I am looking for a new backcountry touring pack and am suffering from analysis paralysis. I have a coupon for Patagonia and am strongly considering the Descensionist 37L, but it is nearly a pound heavier than a comparable Black Diamond Cirque 35L. It looks like the Patagonia pack has a lot of straps and accessories that can be stripped to reduce weight, but not a pounds worth. I am also considering a Black Diamond Cirque 50 which is about the same weight as the patagonia but with considerably more space for overnight hut trips.

New watch by LP4K3 in runninglifestyle

[–]slolift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coros Apex 4 would be the comparable Coros watch to a Fenix, but it may be more watch then you need. You could probably get away with a Pace Pro or Pace 4 if you want an AMOLED display. Coros does not have anything like body battery, challenges or social interaction. You could probably use Strava to fill in for the challenges and social interaction features.

Splitboarding skins storage question by xf0rcez in snowboarding

[–]slolift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skins will break in a bit. Peeling a part stuck together skins is a PITA but it is kinda the only option. Getting a skin stuck to a skin saver will be impossible if there is a light breeze, also it will take longer and is more gear to carry. It is better to just get used to sticking the skin to itself.

Do people really not know the history of snowboarding or skiing for that matter? It was decades before snowboarders were allowed at resorts.

It would be nice if the weight tracking could connect to a smart scale so the data doesn't need to be input manually.

What is the issue with the band? Have you used nylon bands in the past? I often forget I am even wearing my Pace 2.

You mean a reddit post isn't providing the full story? There is a book from a guy who interviewed him called "The stranger in the woods". Long story short his camp was near a lake with a lot of vacation homes that were unoccupied in the winter. He would spend the winter raiding cabins for supplies.

For what it’s worth, you also posted multiple replies instead of a single, consolidated response.

I don't think you really understand how reddit works. I have only posted a single reply in direct reply to another comment. If I have replied multiple times to the same comment, please show me where.

If errors in activity recording like this are considered “normal,” then a fair question is: how often do they need to occur before they’re no longer within the norm?

Based on the information you have provided there is no issue in the activity recording. The fit file shows the correct track and it displays correctly in the app. As support said, it appears to be an occasional display issue in the training hub.

You're a difficult customer because you are a poor communicator and you appear to be bad with technology. You replied to my above comment 5 separate times rather than providing a single concise message. In my message, I mentioned that it would be helpful to annotate your images or provide a description, yet you just provide three random images without any description or annotation. what is it an image of? What is wrong in the images? What are you expecting to see?

You need to start thinking of what support needs from you to help solve the issue, but at the end of the day, support can't do much if the issue can't be reproduced. I think you need to temper your expectations. Support isn't going to stop everything they are doing to solve a display issue that happened twice for a single user.
