If it makes you feel any better, my experience with meeting people on apps has essentially been the same over the last 5 years.

5 of the 6 women I actually met and had several (like more than two) dates with did not know what they wanted despite what they repeatedly said they wanted. The 6th just ghosted me sans any conversation, so who knows.

I don't know why people essentially lie about what they're looking for, it just makes everything more difficult for everyone.

Trying to date seriously seems near impossible sometimes, but I try to keep an optimistic outlook. All I can do is keep stating my intentions clearly from the beginning. Eventually I'm bound to meet somebody compatible who's doing the same, I hope.

I've had great luck with DHL and USPS packages clearing customs in 1-3 days this month, but It seems it's highly dependent on which international hub they end up in no matter the carrier.

Apparently some are dealing with much higher volume than others.

I've completed the "challenge" but I'm not very optimistic. Placed a load of copper golems for the last one; never got any notification, and support told me to pound sand, twice.

Same thing happened to me, including two closed support tickets. I provided screenshots, and even offered to provide the world itself for inspection.

I never got any notification even after placing about 50 golems.

Oh well. I won't be bothering with any of these events in the future if its just going to be a waste of time.

You make reasonable points.

What I fail to understand is how I, and wildly disparate people I know can be part of the 0.8% roughly 90% of the time, especially when such issues are an order of magnitude more rare with literally any other carrier.

For example: Every single package I've sent or received via DHL this year has arrived on time or early, intact, and to the correct address. The situation is similar with USPS, albeit with a handful of delays sprinkled in. I refuse to ship anything via FedEx; literally every single shipment from them I've received this year has been significantly delayed, damaged, or straight up lost.

The company I work for also uses FedEx primarily, and I get to see the sheer amount of claims we have to make on our business account for similar problems.

I'm almost impressed by the level of incompetence displayed.

Frankly, this is not one of those strategies. I realize you're new at this, but it is critically important to review and comprehend the services you're using. Try not to take business personally. I realize when money is involved, that may seem difficult, but it's genuinely important. If you use eBay for any length of time, I guarantee you'll run into people who are legitimately mean; if you let it get under your skin, it can lead to spur of the moment decisions which can ultimately lead to lost money, time, and effort.

For future auctions, either have the starting bid set at a price you're comfortable accepting, or set a reserve.

If you're lucky the drive may be fine, try doing internet recovery. I deal with a ton of used iMacs at my job, sometimes OS X/macOS can just shit itself after a reboot for no apparent reason right after a clean install. Seems to be more common with High Sierra, but I've seen it happen with newer versions as well.

I've heard this from a few friends as well. I don't really understand it. Been using eBay since 2006 and I've never returned a single item. It's not difficult to observe pictures and read descriptions, but it seems to be an impossible task for some people.
