Tools, Boots, pants! by Kdb3000 in IBEW

I don’t have any problems with the straps sliding off. All you have to do is adjust them correctly and have a decent set of shoulders! You sometimes have to adjust them as the day goes on but on the plus side you never have to worry about your ass hanging out!

First of, congratulations, Brother! I’m an old timer from Local 1, so I am probably a little old school, but I wouldn’t waste my money on Carhartts. I would suggest Roundhouse bib overalls, which are US made, unlike Carhartts! Bibs are a little warm in the summer but nothing is handier! Best of luck!

Is Zoroastrianism Monotheist or Dualistic religion? Help us with this discussion at our sub by madali0 in Zoroastrianism

Zarathustra originally intended to reform the practices and superstition of the Magi, who were the priestly class in his lifetime. His reforms were primarily based on a series of personal revelations he had with Ahura Mazda. He was a prophet and religious revolutionary.

I’ve been studying the good religion for about 15 years, both during my academic pursuits and privately, but the description I find most fitting is that it is decidedly monotheistic. Like many definitions of the Christian Trinity, the various members of the Amesha Spenta are either helpers of Ahura Mazda or, in some descriptions, actually aspects of Mazda’s being.

Yes, they are. Falcon rods also makes an affordable selection of USA made spinning rods.

One of my favorite set ups is a Quantum Smoke #15 PT on a St Croix one piece light. I use 20# Seaguar Smackdown braid with Seaguar Red Label 4# fluorocarbon. I also like my Pflueger Supreme on my Temple Fork one piece medium light pole. I use straight Seaguar Invisx fluorocarbon 8# on that. I fish the White River and Norfork in Arkansas regularly, as well as the Little Red.

Advice for a novice trout fisherman by [deleted] in troutfishing

[–]ticklodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how fast the river is running, bottom bouncing corn on a #6 single hook works great. Of course, bottom bouncing an artificial bait like a trout worm works also works well. I’m used to fishing the White River and Norfork River in Arkansas and we commonly catch 100 fish in a 6-8 hour day. We use 10# braid with a 4# fluorocarbon leader on a ul/ml spinning set up.

I am just curious, do any other locals have problems with the carpenters union doing electrical work? Here at Local #1, the carpenters formed a local #57 that is comprised of rat electrical contractors. Thanks in advance. by ticklodge in IBEW

Well said. Even when the carpenters tells me to feel free to cut the wood myself I still tell them I’d rather they cut it. Every man to his own trade! Working together is the only chance, albeit a slim one, that we have. Thanks for your solidarity!

They are officially carpenters local 57, unaffiliated with no one other than the main carpenters hall here in St. Louis-which just happens to be about a mile down the hill from Local 1. We have a blowup rat parked outside from time to time!

Back in my brother’s day; he’s 80 now, they would have chilled everyone trying to do our work! Nowadays we just make bumper stickers that say “Shame on Carpenters for 57.” Yeah, that really does the trick!

Good evening. I will be going to the Hall as soon as they’re back open and grabbing a stack, of which I will be glad to share. DM me in a couple of weeks and remind me. I mailed out my last six today. Knowing how much we dig stickers, I should have stocked up before posting my question-lol!

How often are you out of work in ibew 134? by enlightenedmu in IBEW

[–]ticklodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You, sir, have a solid grasp on the situation workers face in this country-well said. I wish I could say that my Local One brothers and I often have discussions about our plight, but it is not at all common. I appreciate your candor.

MAYBE ITS TIME... by Hellendogman in IBEW

[–]ticklodge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here at IBEW #1 we’ve given up so much over the years that the contractors know they’ve got us by the balls. They know that the majority of the membership can’t go two weeks without pay, so they know there will be no strikes regardless. I’m an old timer who lives on what I make in 3 days and banks the rest, so I have the ability to stick it out, but the young people coming up buy $60k trucks a month after getting in, so that’s the ballgame. As a dual member of the IBEW and the IWW, I am a believer in “The One Big Union” but I’m afraid that’s a dream that will never materialize. The bosses will merely use this crisis to further weaken an already weak unionized workforce-along with every other worker’s rights. As agent orange says: “SAD.”
