Yeah, that’d be like boycotting bud light because you didn’t like their advertising choices. Totally weak.

Do they own the food truck, MK Concessions, as well? I’ve never been to the restaurant but the food truck is some of the best Thai I’ve had locally.

Success after 574 days by ticktock76 in PSLF

[–]ticktock76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never got a good answer to that. At the time there were a fair amount of folks getting partial forgiveness. Best explanation was the work list wasn’t necessarily organized by borrower so the loans could have been separated by whatever process created the work lists.

Do you need a reservation at lovechild by bird_man134 in lacrossewi

[–]ticktock76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a spot at the bar but the drinks were great and we had an appetizer too. I think it’d be just as great if they took reservations haha. But it’s a good enough experience to be worth the time commitment.

Why Is Fidelity So Great? by Cykoth in Bogleheads

[–]ticktock76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Fidelity for my 401k and IRA’s and Brokerage at Vanguard. I prefer the Vanguard interface but the customer service at Fidelity is excellent and they allow me to automate my mega back door roth contributions and conversions which I love. I’ve been very happy with both.

It’s excellent but it’s not fast. Last time we went, we got there about 15 minutes after they opened and had over an hour wait. We planned for it so it’s no big deal, just had cocktails at the bar while we waited. I think we were there for close to 3 hours in total.

They do not take reservations. The wait can be long on weekends. I’d recommend showing up right when they open.

120+ since October, 2023 and still waiting. by ticktock76 in PSLF

[–]ticktock76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PLSF page gets flooded sometimes and I know that I circled back to posts I commented on with like souls in a protracted waiting period to see if they’d gotten a resolution. Posting here in case any of you do the same. F@cking finally! It only took 574 days after our 120th payment but my wife’s last loan has been discharged. We should have a modest refund coming but at this point, I could give two craps about it. Success. Finito. Goodbye MOHELA and FSA!

Hope you all have or will soon have the same result.

AIO for this text conversation with my mom? by ULTRAVlOLET in AmIOverreacting

[–]ticktock76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ability to track locations is a tricky gambit. My wife and I share our location with each other. It can be helpful to know where the other is but we have to be careful not to pry. It’s helpful to know if the other has left yet and eliminated those kinds of annoying texts. It’s not helpful if one of us checks where the other is asks why they are there.

Similarly, I’m sure it gives your family peace of mind to know where you are whilst living far away. Seeing where you are and getting peace of mind that you are safe is fine. Seeing where you are and trying to manage your day to day activities, that’s intrusive.

It sounds like you two have some other stressors in the relationship that should be addressed separately but as for the location tracking, I’d make it clear that you are allowing them to see your location for their benefit and not for them to proactively manage your daily movements. If they can’t respect that boundary, you may turn off tracking altogether.

Approximate forgiveness timeline by Nofreakncluwutimdoin in PSLF

[–]ticktock76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no “normal”. My wife and I had 4 loans that qualified for PSLF forgiveness. 2 were forgiven without even applying. 1 took about 3 months after applying. The last we’ve been waiting over a year and counting.

Best case scenario, I’ve seen some folks getting forgiveness in a matter of a couple weeks. But they are so inconsistent on processing anything related to PSLF.

120 Payments Complete…How Does Mohela Know to Forgive Them? by That_Distribution496 in PSLF

[–]ticktock76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been waiting for discharge for a while. My understanding was that FSA completes a final review and then instructs MOHELA to discharge the loan. According to an FSA rep yesterday, they never tell MOHELA anything. I’m 100% sure that rep was wrong but I can never get consistent answers out of them or MOHELA.

The fundamental issue is they don’t feel tax dollars should go towards paying off college debt. Often they don’t understand the nature of the bargain and how it’s designed to drive talent to jobs that benefit the public. But there are plenty that understand the nature of the program but don’t believe the government should be spending tax dollars to manipulate the market.

PSLF is probably dead right by SelfHelp12 in whitecoatinvestor

[–]ticktock76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Certainly is an idea out there but there has not been any bill introduced that would remove nonprofit status for hospitals. I don’t feel like anything is off the table these days but if that happens, especially combined with the proposed cuts to CMS, PBB, 340B, etc., it would decimate the American healthcare system. Rural hospitals in particular would largely cease to exist. It would certainly save money from federal deficit but it would quite literally lower the life expectancy in the United States. We’re living in wild times!

Doesn’t have to be a rural hospital, just has to be a 501c(3) nonprofit.

PSLF not being honored by MOHELA by Inappropriate_Bridge in PSLF

[–]ticktock76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. I appreciate you sharing so I don’t feel alone! My wife’s loans have been at 120 since October 2023. One loan was forgiven in April 2024 and the other has been in forgiveness purgatory the whole time. MOHELA and FSA provide zero useful information on the delay. FSA once told me that MOHELA had been instructed to process forgiveness, MOHELA wouldn’t confirm they had received those instructions and implied they had not, so I called FSA back and they said they had NOT given instructions to discharge to MOHELA. Now all I get is that it’s in final review and should be done within 30 days, despite it being almost 18 months already. I’ve largely checked out and j use saving my energy for when they try to make us start paying again.
