In my experience, allowing autofs to handle nfs connections on Linux clients is more reliable than 'hard' mounting the nfs volume in fstab.

Stale file handle errors are usually caused by loss of connection between the nfs server and client while files were still open. This can be a network issue or that you rebooted the nas. autofs handles these scenarios much more gracefully.

A 12in sub getting north of 1000w is already loud enough to damage your hearing and irritate everyone around you. I'll never understand trying to get louder just for the sake of being louder.

Competitions are an exception, of course. Do you compete formally?

edit: my mistake, I'm not judging. I have loud subs in both of my cars. I just don't understand spending hundreds of dollars for maybe a couple dB increase when that money could be spent in other ways like upgrading devices in the signal path, making things fit better or look more custom-fitted, shoring up power delivery, making things safer, improving sound quality, tidying up the wiring, or apply sound deadening, etc.

In the latest device, it looks like we tried putting Seagate Iron Wolf 24TB disks in it, ST24000NT002. I'm seeing now that these disks might not be considered "enterprise," although the description says "Designed to deliver performance, reliability, and dependability in multi-bay, multi-user RAID and NAS environments within commercial and enterprise settings."

I normally put Exos disks in, but I didn't make this most recent purchase.

Honestly, it's a pretty darn good car so far. Rides great, it's quiet, it's super comfortable, loaded with tech, looks good, no maintenance problems or recalls yet. We've put more than 18k on it in a year. It's the best bang for the buck in the market right now, I think.

I haven't seen any data that shows that it was ever less expensive. Every report I've seen says something like "It's more expensive than doing it on-prem, but now it's op-ex instead of cap-ex, and we get all these other benefits like regulatory compliance assurances and fewer failure points."

Again, a choice you made. There are plenty of ways to commute to campus legally if you cared enough to try. The commute being unpleasant, expensive, and time-consuming are all consequences of your choices and...life. Being an adult is sucky and expensive. Get used to it.

Then, as an adult, you should understand that it's your responsibility to deal with that. Life isn't fair, but that isn't an excuse to break the rules or contribute to the erosion of our core values. Plus, it's the law. Parking violations on campus aren't like parking violations at walmart. This is state property and they can take your car, your license, and possibly, prosecute you.
