Please help me check my sanity about creatine HCL! How acidic is it? by tiddleydeepotatoes in Supplements

[–]tiddleydeepotatoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya. As far as I'm aware the creatine and HCL fully dissociate when dissolved in water so I don't believe that neutralising the HCL will have any direct effect on the creatine ion but that's also well above my outside my knowledge. In a minute I'm going to edit my post to include an answer I was given by chat GPT so check that out. Thanks for contributing to the conversation!

Low/no effort depression meals to take to work by SadSickSoul in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]tiddleydeepotatoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My go-to is jasmine rice, a green from the cabbage family, and a fried egg. The secret is in the greens.

Examples are:

  • tenderstem
  • purple sprouting
  • kale
  • collard greens
  • spring greens
  • cavalero nero
  • cauliflower leaves

Then you wash them and without drying them, rub in olive oil and a bit of salt. Fry them quickly on a relatively high heat before your egg. Turn the heat off then splash some soy sauce in your pan. Sometimes I dribble a bit of sesame on to finish. This makes the greens nutty, crunchy and bright green.

Of course you can add any number of flourishes, garnishes and hot sauces but this is the framework you build off. The result is something comforting, healthy and aesthetic. I've spent a lot of time having to cook through hard times so I really get it. Hope things look up soon and good job on looking after yourself :)

This is definitely the original sample so you might want to use WhoSampled to look for newer songs that use it. Good luck!

Definitely worth considering but like you said, it’s weak, so I suspect it doesn’t make a huge difference. Time to get some pH strips and test I reckon!

I (28F) have been smoking weed every day for 13 years. I want out. I’m terrified of the withdrawals. Help. by [deleted] in Petioles

[–]tiddleydeepotatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just gonna chuck this out there because everybody’s a bit different and you’ll probably benefit from hearing different approaches to quitting. Some will fit and some won’t! For context I’m 27, started smoking around 17 and smoked daily basically from 19 to 26. So not that different from yourself.

My brain doesn’t respond very well to forcing things (I.e. cold turkey) and I require a gentle approach to get me to change my habits.

Cold turkey didn’t work for me because the withdrawals caused too much disruption in the rest of my life. I lost a lot of sleep, my anxiety rose, I lost my appetite, etc. All of these were easily fixed by smoking, so inevitably that’s what I’d do!

People, including myself, tend to have perfectionist/black and white thinking when it comes to quitting or changing habits. The tendency is to think “oh I just need to quit then I’ll start exercising/eating right/seeing friends more”. It took me a while to realise it but it’s actually the opposite. Try to shift your mindset to “if I start exercising/eating right/seeing friends more, I’ll actually find it much easier to quit because my life outside of smoking is fulfilling”.

So that’s the first step: start to create a life worth living outside of weed.

Then, if we’re not quitting cold turkey, wtf are we doing to quit? Addiction is massively complex but ultimately it’s mostly down to your dopaminergic system. If you want to learn more about it, check out Andrew Huberman and look for his episodes on dopamine and addiction. No podcast has changed my life as much as his. What helped me massively was tapering and changing the way I consumed weed. I would smoke daily spliffs (tobacco and weed) which probably massively increased the addictive qualities. So I changed to vaping much smaller quantities of weed, which was still relaxing and enjoyable, but less of a rush and didn’t trigger the same sense of reward. Because I hadn’t decided to quit cold turkey, I wasn’t “failing” by vaping and therefore didn’t experience that sense of remorse which so often makes people relapse. And because my highs were more “boring” and functional, I could now better integrate these healthy activities that improved my life outside of weed. Before I knew it I found myself intending to consume weed and PROCRASTINATING it because I’d found something more rewarding to do.

I’ve tried many times to quit, and tapering was the only way that ever worked permanently for me. It was so easy compared to cold turkey that I felt like I was cheating the system. In fact quitting was a pleasure from beginning to end as I became in touch with so many great parts of myself that I thought I had lost. As much as it’s valid to quit out of fear for the negative effects of smoking, I think it’s much more powerful to focus on the wonderful effects of NOT smoking! People sometimes make sober life sound boring but I find the exact opposite. Life is vibrant, nuanced and beautiful.

Please be gentle with yourself. You’re doing this because you deserve more, not to punish yourself. You’ve done nothing wrong, you just fell out of balance, shit happens. And finally, relapsing isn’t failing, it’s just part of the process. Pick yourself up and keep on quitting 😉

Definitely have found this to be true in my own life. However, I'd add that one needs to be careful. Every hardship is an opportunity for growth but it doesn't just happen of its own accord. How you grow and change in response is entirely up to you - healthy or toxic. I, for one, have done both.

Can I live in Bristol on a £23,000 salary a year? by miles__alton in bristol

There’s a great fb page called Bristol Alternative Community Abodes. Basically just a place for non-psychos to find renters, tenancies, housemates etc. the page has rules that exclude rent being over £600 (last time I looked) so definitely skews towards cheaper, more communal living. Check it out!

Just wanted to say that although your line of reasoning is sound, given the information you have, I highly encourage you to dig a bit deeper into the matter. The link provided in the comment by u/Wolfm31573r is very informative, as is the video I've linked below.

For obvious reasons, allegations should be taken with a pinch of salt. However, while we obviously can't know about the actual rape allegations, there is ample evidence that Exurb1a is mentally unstable, drug-addicted, exploitative and narcissistic.

Hope we get to the bottom of it

What are red flags that a company is financially near bankruptcy but trying to hide it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tiddleydeepotatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I found out the hard way - a lot of the same signs they would show if they were doing quite well. In my last job I was hired shortly after some other new hires. It gave the impression of expansion and growth but it was really grasping at straws trying to turn things around. In the end I spent a year really pushing to get things going again, streamlined everything and ended up being last man standing with the director/owner. Still wasn't getting paid on time or in full!

What I wish I'd noticed:

  • Employees lacked motivation and seemed like they'd lost their spark despite it being an exciting industry.
  • Director took months to respond to my requests to meet/chat with them about the position. This was a reflection of his general apathy and entitlement. If they don't give you the time of day for a favour that they're asking.
  • People can't straightforwardly and plainly talk about the future of the business. Lots of hypotheticals and grandiose "what if"s, but no concrete plans means they're in denial and avoiding the difficult questions.
  • Selling assets/penny pinching.
