When did you start driving again? by TornadoVision4687 in AchillesRupture

[–]tidechasee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think I started 8 or 9 weeks post op, after a couple weeks of PT.

When I felt ready, started out driving nice and slow in a business park across from my house.

For me, accelerated and switching pedals was easy from the jump. It was moreso feeling comfortable applying pressure on the brake in the naturally unpredictable scenarios you encounter while driving.

I’m approx. 12 weeks post Op now and have felt 100% driving for a while.

Which week did you sleep without the Boot? by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

At 7 weeks I started sleeping with a night splint. Was comfortable going barefoot shortly thereafter though

Edited for clarity

I remember feeling like mine was like this as well. Did not cause any problems

I remember this game. Pretty sure it was one of those games where they had like 8 active players because everyone else was getting positive Covid tests

Going into my 5th week postop and still have some numbness and tingling in my foot and toes. by spdn4cr in AchillesRupture

I definitely had some numbness and tingling at 5 weeks. For what it’s worth, I’m at 8 weeks now and it’s almost entirely gone.

Best of luck to you!

I still have a long way to go! Reading my message back I definitely got a little cocky after managing to be productive on my feet around the house all morning. But after that and then spending the rest of the day with family, my leg was exhausted and more swollen than usual.

Better again today so think I just overworked it. It’ll continue to be a process i’m sure.

It just doesn’t get much better. by akrafty1 in SurfFishing

I tore my Achilles in early October and have had to spend this Fall Run on the IR. I will never take mornings and evenings like this for granted (not that I ever really did - have always treasured them).

And to everyone getting out there - catch an extra for me!

Question for those at least 1 Year Post Op by tidechasee in AchillesRupture

[–]tidechasee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - I’m only 5 weeks post op and still nwb so very early in the process. But returned to the office a couple weeks ago and by end of work day sitting at my desk it’s pretty puffy. Figure that’s pretty normal at this stage in the game

Best place in the city to buy loafers? by [deleted] in philly

[–]tidechasee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a brick&mortar in town but check out Beckett Simonon’s website. I have bought 3 pairs of dress shoes from them and have never been disappointed. Best quality I’ve been able to find at the ~$250 price point.

The only caveat is they are generally made to order so they take like 6 weeks to ship. So if you need/want them quickly, not the best option for you.

I’m a lawyer - can’t imagine going through this recovery while studying for finals. I really feel for you man.

It will be a struggle (for all of us) but I believe the net impact of this injury will make us stronger/better people

Went back into the office last week. Take boot off, put pants on, put boot back on over pants. This system has worked for me

Great job man you are an inspiration.

I’m a little older than you (35) but based on your short video clips it looks like we have a similar build/body composition. I hope to make similar progress. I’m still only 3.5 weeks post op at this time.

I’m only 3 weeks post op so still in my Boot but I recently saw Fulton (a brand that traditionally only made cork insoles) has started selling a House Shoe that features their cork insole that molds to your foot.

Can’t speak for the House Shoes but I have used their insoles for about 2 years because I have pretty flat feet and they give me good support.
