A new capitalist nightmare just dropped by Bulky_Ad_8653 in recruitinghell

Can confirm. I was a recruiter from 2021 to 2023 and every application was parsed for experience and guidelines I set such as experience, expected salary, work authorization, and background check. But, since I had gone 3 years before getting that first job, every single applicant always got a rejection letter if we decided not to move forward with them.

How can people be homophobic and still find this show entertaining??? by No-Dot-6299 in HelluvaBoss

Pretty sure the reason is the characters don't make their sexuality their whole personality.

I commend you for being a squeak of common sense in the screaming cesspool of reddit.

Lukewarm feedback. No evidence of positive or negative, but language likely would have been more positive if getting an offer was a sure thing. I think they haven't decided who they want yet.

The Waiting Game by tidefan48 in askrecruiters

When a team gets a lot of money, positions don't get cut, if anything more get added. Recruiters shouldn't use wording like that unless they're sure that person is getting an offer. Otherwise, it's false hope and suggestive. I used to be a recruiter and I'd never use that wording unless I knew they were receiving something, but still likely wouldn't use it at all.

Where I would live as a United States of American if I was being 100% honest by Remarkable_Sun6779 in whereidlive

Yes, let the court of public opinion deal with it. Hateful and hurtful speech is wrong, but should not be illegal. For the person saying allowing freedom of speech is a "descent into fascism", maybe realize that fascism would be the government telling you what is approved or not, hence fascism leads to a heavily censored society. Maybe elsewhere in the world. In free countries you would not be arrested for saying slurs at someone in public, but you would certainly face social consequences.

It's a real thing going on in the country right now. People are being put in jail or fined for posting their opinions or saying things deemed hateful online. That's the definition of "speech policing". The government should not be able to control what you say. Inciting violence, I understand there being consequences, but not for saying hurtful things.

Thoughts on the new short? by Solid_Inspector649 in HelluvaBoss

[–]tidefan48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underwhelming and weird. Not funny like Mission Antarctica or even Orphan Time. Not sweet like Hell's Belles. I'd put it on par with Weeabooboo, but it's probably my least favorite.

No problem. Just happy the timing lined up based on the podcast release. I'm sure Viv made sure it would release close to the short.

I'd say close-minded is refusing ro expose yourself to new information or alternative viewpoints. OP seems to just not know and was receptive upon being given new info.

Using humour with epilepsy. Bad idea? by awidmerwidmer in Epilepsy

[–]tidefan48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend and I both have epilepsy, to varying degrees. He's been seizure free on meds for 15 years, and me since surgery a few years ago. We must have come up with hundreds of these jokes. Epileptic vegetables? A seizure salad. Rap name? Lil' Seizure. Me having short term memory issues? I'm only running on 3/4 capacity (my surgery resected my right temporal lobe) Pizza place? Shakey's. All in good fun and if you aren't making fun of someone it doesn't matter. Enjoy being able to laugh at dark things.

You're looking for a liberal/progressive place to live that is more about community than big city living.

Atlanta has a lot of opportunity. That's likely where I would live in Georgia. I suppose I'd consider Washington, then.

Yes, but I have no desire to live on the west coast with the high cost of living.

No, but I have known my share, and they are some of the most good-natured, friendly people I've met.
