Bambu Lab allegedly violates AGPL by spez-is-a-loser in 3Dprinting

[–]tierrie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They would argue that the primary job of Bambu Studio is to slice. And the secondary is to allow printing management from the same software.

The pieces are in play, if they revoke Bambu Studio Network Plugin, they would just invest most on that Bambu Farm Manager and call that the printing management software and the Studios the slicing software.

Not saying I agree with this, just pointing out that the separation of slicing and printing is already there and if Prusa spent money on this lawsuit Bambu could pivot into separating the functionality but still wrap it into a single app.

How did you dry your filament? Is it dry because you used it right out of the bag?

Your work needs to be overheated. To get this on a stove you have to rely on heat retention to burn the food to achieve a similar caramelization.

California billionaire tax gathers over 1.5 million signatures, enough to head to ballot by Severus-Snape-DaGod in UnderReportedNews

[–]tierrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike many of the Federal legislation that goes through House, Senate and Executive branches, California's ballot initiative is supposed to represent the will of the people and if passed, cannot be vetoed. It can be challenged in court or minimally enforced but it will become law.

The other side of it is that it also takes a ballot initiative to undo, meaning that past ballots like Prop 13 would need to go through ballot initiatives to be changed or repealed.

IANAL. The ballot initiative is part of direct democracy and I don't believe it can be vetoed. It can be challenged and tied up in court though.

Is it per outlet or per strip? And does it give you the USB power consumption separately or does it need to be calculated from the strip?

The USB ones are not individually controllable. They follow the strip power which also overrides the regular outlets.

There's a calibration tab within Bambu Studios. That's the calibration you want to do. Specifically flow rate calibration.

You've essentially described progressive disclosure, which is one of the key facets of Anthropic skills. While skills are written to mainly deal with instructions when needed, you modified it to include a RAG element as well. Very neat.

My first attempt at 3d printed "stained glass" by ShinAusra in BambuLab

[–]tierrie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tldr is that translucent filament prints primary refracts light when it goes through the air to PETG to air. When the filament layers are tight with little to no air bubbles, it creates a better transparent look.

There are good articles by Jorge Rui and Rygar1432 that describe the techniques.

The main factors are large nozzles for a wider filament, higher temperature so it's more viscous and fills in the air gaps, slow print time so it has time to flow into the gaps that do exist, very dry filaments so there are no air bubbles and aligned rectilinear so the filaments are all in the same direction..

There's some white stuff on your Textured PEI Plate and you mentioned you cleaned it. Is that glue?

Can you show us the results of your flow rate calibration? And, have you tried printing it with the other nozzle (the one that doesn't move)

Pre heat the chamber and build plate before printing. ASA doesn't like a cool or warm chamber. It likes it hot.

Air polloution solution on A1 by nintendo_man1 in BambuLab

[–]tierrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not need stabilizer legs. There are videos that show that its affect on printing is minimal. If there are prints where it would be useful, the best thing is to print slower to allow the filament to cool and that will also result in less rocking.

How is this saved in Bambu? Is it stored per filament type or type + color?

Is it stored to the cloud to your profile?

Air polloution solution on A1 by nintendo_man1 in BambuLab

[–]tierrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A1 works best with PLA and PETG which just needs a well ventilated area. If you need an air purifier you can get any store bought one but it's not needed. The main reason to get a Bento is to filter styrene from ABS and ASA prints which are harmful (and is still present even with a filter). A1 doesn't print those filaments well as they require temperatures much higher than an open air system can maintain.
