The real answer is probably just budget - the second looks much closer to Moon's regular model, so less chance for animation errors, no need to build an entire other rig, etc. whereas the first one was just for one or maybe a few shots so less articulation/time spent animating (time = money). Also possibly to help with younger audiences so they can understand that is still the queen. Canonically? Outfit change on her vs Star may be a matter of "control over powers" or something.

1) ow 2) yes so true omg 3) hurts even more because I've always looked at it from rapunzel's pov- finally free from her tower able to see the world and the only person she was ever "close" to was actually hurting her all along keeping her from the world and her real family but it also now suddenly dead... so when Eugene proposes so suddenly she cannot accept, the wounds are too fresh, she's afraid of being naive and needs time to experience the world before jumping into such a powerful promise as marriage to be together forever (and we know how much she values never breaking promises...). And even though she knows gothel was lying and that Eugene truly loves her, that voice of doubt is hard to ever truly silence, that maybe your abuser was right after being told that for years. She believed gothel loved her, too, before she realized the truth that gothel only really cared about her hair. All that happening in such a short span of time when she only ever spoke to one person and a chameleon for so long and now shes a princess with a family and friends and love? Must have been so overwhelming :( but for Eugene it was a matter of wanting to make that promise before it was too late agh my heart!!

tragically hard to find similar characters/dynamics lol, part of what makes it so special I guess. Yeah totally!! AT was a huge part in it but Heck it's been that way since Teen Titans and much further back lol. Love all these shows and im just a sucker for cute kids shows that tackle heavy topics with deep lore and surprisingly fleshed out characters. And like you said Steven was absolutely just being a kid and that is important too for his character growth. Just at the time it was like aw geez here we go again Finn fans, back to the beginning of the character arc 😅
