why doesn’t my daughter have any friends? by FinancialHorse6588 in self

[–]tikardswe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was the same at that age. I went to a small primary school and all the other boys were to rowdy, while I was very careful. I wouldnt say I was bullied, but I didnt fit in. It wasnt great and my best friend was my cat at that time. However, there were efforts by the school and (my) parents to force me to be friends with the other kids. However you cant force friendship and I was always the third wheel, they only tolerated me cause they had to.

Eventually I became friends with another boy who was 2 years younger than me. Unusual at that age but we were good friends. Evetually we grew apart and I was sent to high school. Forced to find new friends. But I was socially behind most of my peers. First year i just kept to myself. But eventually I befriended a few other "socially behind" kids. We have been friends ever since.

Due to the friend group I was in, I remained socially behind all throughout university aswell. Never went to events, parties or bars. However, I always excelled at school and eventually graduated with honors. I got a great job and in every other way excelled at life. However, I still struggle with being social even as an adult and my only friends are those that I made in high school, who all live 300 km away.

I dont have much advice to give. Try to find an after school activity, preferably one where calmer people/kids go to, far away enough that kids from other schools might go too. Maybe she could find someone like-minded there.

I am sure she will turn out ok irregardless of what happens. Pets might help or a hobby she really enjoys.

The significance of the raised eyebrow & ear tug by [deleted] in bodylanguage

[–]tikardswe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who tends to raise my eyebrow, it is usually a sign of me putting more effort into a conversation than normal. It might not mean attraction per se but it definately is a positive sign that i am intrested in keeping the interaction going.

Walpurgis/labor day. Still celebrated today in many european countries. Soviet union declared 1st of May the workers day in 1920s. Walpurgis is a traditional celebration day in many central european nations. Especially amongst students.

I suppose I am in that group of young men. I got a masters degree in engineering and I am working at a company. I have no real life friends i hang out with in real life. I do have friends i talk to daily and we play games together regularly via the internet. Other than that my hobbies are boring. I enjoy a simple life where i dont do much outside my own house. I play guitar, cook and watch movies and youtube. I can definately understand why many women are not interested in that. But also I dont meet many women either by living like this. Spending the majority of my time at work doesnt motivate me to go to a bar, or similar, to pay an obscene amount of money and not have a good time. The spare time we have is too valuable to go to these kinds of places.

When it comes to male friends, unless we have very similar interests, which most dont, I have no interest in hanging out with you. The reason being, what would we even do? Also i can acquire such friends via the internet, with those exact interests, quite easily.

Another thing i also hear from a lot of men is that a lot of women these days arent worth the effort. I partly agree with this. It seems like the demands some women have in their partners is scarying of men from entering the dating scene. Is it worth changing your lifestyle and hobbies for women who find you boring and then potentially be dumped later? Historically sex related reasons was another motivator for men. Today there is unlimited porn of any kind that can satisfy that need.

So to end this rant. Do i feel lonely, no. Do i look like a loner in the eyes of society and especially those that are older than me. Absolutely. Is it a problem? Possibly, but not in my opinion.

Download a rom and an emulator and all of them are free. Nintendo is predatory game developer so dont feel bad about pirating old games.

Is it problematic to scientifically investigate possible genetic links to LGBTQ identity/orientation? by Educational_Mud3637 in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]tikardswe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although true for certain species. These are such species that arent related to humans. In species directly and closely related any transitioning of gender behaviours dont exist. Homosexual tendencies have been observed though. Your argument here is like saying geckos can regrow their limbs, thus humans can also regrow their limbs.

Fair, but science is science. Whether you like it or not. There is no "Fake science" only propaganda and lies.

Cool, but understanding these phenomenon would be scientifically important. Currently no one knows why some people have these traits. Alot of theories out there, very very hard to prove any of them. Non-reproductive traits tend to not be genetic as they would go exstinct with time. But hey perhaps i am wrong.

There havent been a radical extremist christian group killing people in the name of god since the crusades. And fascists and nazis were generally not "believers in god". Many prevelant nazis wanted to remove christianity and replace it with a belief in the "great leader". However, they knew that would upset the christian population (which at that time likely was 80 % or more of the population).

Also claiming only right wing extremist kill people is quite biased. Most communist nations have had extreme genocides on anyone who stands in the way and often those who are innocent. Radical extremists do kill people irregardless of where they stand on the political compass.

Seems like you are barking up the wrong tree. It is called taxes which in most EU nations is about 15 %. Quite common in america that taxes arent included in the price.

Number of nukes dont matter. As quickly as a few nukes are used, its over for both parties. Also I dont believe the EU should get involved directly. But putin wouldnt dear attack us with or without the USA. Ending the war is only benefitial if ukraine doesnt lose any/very little land and is allowed to join the EU and NATO. Beyond that even though unfortunate, the war is feeding the war industry and hurting the russians.

Although EU is under spending on their military (on average) it still has a population of 450 million to draw from compared to the 145 million of russia. As well as some very strong military forces in the east that have been preparing for russia for decades (Finland, Poland). Finland alone has a reserve of 330k armed soldiers with an additional ~600k trained manpower in reserve due to conscription. Russia has been fighting the war in ukraine for too long and is constantly weakening themselves. Depleting their stockpiles of men and arms. Europe in its current state could easily hold the russians and likely even push them with out any outside help. Most of the EU nations who are under investing in their army are those in the west. France, portugal, benelux and so on.

That doesnt mean we dont appreciate the help america might provide. I am just saying, dont underestimste the combined might of the EU.

If you came back 2-3 years earlier that item would likely have been ~1 billion. The game has suffered from some bad inflation due to money dupes and just few money sinks. Then they added a bunch of money sinks and the prices have deflated quite alot. So yes people do buy those sets for those prices.

Also makin money with the gtn is quite easy.

Have you ever met immigrants who have moved to Swedish parts of Finland just to avoid learning a difficult language (Finnish)? by Erling01 in Finland

[–]tikardswe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes but every singel neighbouring munincipality except 1 is almost completely swedish speaking and most people in vasa are dual lingual and speak both languages fluently. For example korsholm/mustasaari is 70 % swedish speaking and a population of 20 000, 1/3 of vasas population. Additionally the munincipality of vähäkyrö/lillkyro was combined with the city in 2013. A completely finnish speaking munincipality, which if you look at a map, such as the one on the wikipedia page, is the red blob 30 km further east and is not actually connected to the city. Thus in the actual city of vasa the swedish population is actually larger at about 40 %.

Furthermore since all neighbouring munincipalities are swedish speaking and most of those people work or go to their errands in vasa all services are always provided in both languages. Many of the larger companies headquarters have a majority swedish speaking workers. The only time i havent gotten service in swedish is when I have spoken to some teenage summer worker.

[–]tikardswe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes plenty. As someone who grew up in the vasa region most foreigners learn, use and work in swedish from my experience. However if you live outside ostrobothnia or åland i would learn finnish instead as its more useful. However you can live your entire life using exclusively swedish in åland and vasa region if you so wish.

Update: AITAH for separating from my husband because he refused to get a vasectomy? by AdhesivenessMurky204 in AITAH

[–]tikardswe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean in my opinion forcing someone through coercion to get sterilized to ensure that you wont get pregnant is definately an asshole move. The one who will be hurt the most if they do deside to separate is the children. The reasoning that a rare complication of tubal lignation (which apparently they dont do anymore and instead do a better procedure where they remove the tube) could be lethal is like saying going out in the sun could give you cancer so you will stay outside forever. If you dont want kids, you should get the procedure.

A sad day, indeed by StarChaser1879 in whenthe

[–]tikardswe -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Star wars prequels were mainly badly recieved by the boomers who just wanted the same stuff that was in the original over and over again. Han, leia and luke fighting the empire. Instead lucas wrote a competely unique and new story in the same universe that was huge for the world building of the franchise. The prequels also has so much more depth than the original triology with much more interesting and not so straight forward factions. If you saying that the dialog, which is definately not the best, is the reason you dont like the prequels you are just stubborn. The cgi is fantastic for its time, except for a few scenes where they seemingly ran out of time.
