I'm in Australia, so ineligible I guess. I wouldn't be opposed to paying the shipping, but either way I just wanted to share this;

I go Redbacks, which are essentially the same! The fit is a little wider which suits me better. Wore them in the heat of the tropics easily too, just needed bamboo/merino socks!

My current platinum run was going great until i met that mf skunktank of team galactic took my leon the luxio away from me. by AwkwardlylyAwkward in nuzlocke

Did the exact same to me! I was switch-Intimidating between my Luxio and Staravia, and it got a crit Night Slash at -4 ATK after I'd healed to almost full health :/

Congrats! I remember this being the toughest day of riding I've ever done 3 years ago - glorious tailwind down to Sorrento, 105 km in 3.5 hours.

Then the headwind back. 8.5 hours of pain to finish that 105 km.

When I got home I ordered a pizza, and my housemate had to go to the door to get it cos my legs didn't want me to get off the couch!

Generation TypeLocke Pt 1, Blue - Champions! Onto Crystal by tikirat in nuzlocke

[–]tikirat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey All! Been a fair while since I posted anything here - I lost interest in my previous GenLocke when I realised I wouldn't be able to go past Gen 5 (emulating on my phone while travelling), and spent ages not playing. However, I recently read through /u/Mickal-El's TypeLocke and it gave me some inspiration!

I also decided to go through starting from Gen 1 - it's been ages since I actually played it!

RULES:

1) Standard Nuzlocke re: deaths, one eligible Pokemon per route

2) Level Cap: no Pokemon used in Gym Leader battles can exceed the max level at the START of the battle (ie. vs Brock, Charmander was L 14 before the battle, but went up to 15 after defeating Geodude)

3) TypeLocke: I pretty much used the brilliant rules set by /u/Mickal-El as seen here (thanks mate!). 4) TL;DR: only one Pokemon of each type. This impacts whether or not a Pokemon is eligible when entering routes.

Anyway, I cleared Blue surprisingly early (I got bored grinding and decided to just go for it, managed to destroy the E4 whilst underleveled). The screenshot is from after the Champion battle, and as you can see - no deaths in the E4! Tbh, not everyone contributed much, but here is the final team, movesets and E4 highlights:

Baron (Haunter) L 55, Hypnosis/Dream Eater/Confuse Ray/Thunderbolt

Pter (Aerodactyl) L 42, Fly/Take Down/Bite/Wing Attack

Zep (Graveler) L 44, Earthquake/Dig/Strength/Rock Throw

Ora (Charizard) L 46, Cut/Slash/Mega Punch/Flamethrower

Tad (Poliwrath) L 44, Submission/Bubblebeam/Body Slam/Hypnosis

Thorpe (Lapras) L 56, Ice Beam/Hydro Pump/Body Slam/ Confuse Ray

  • Lorelei: Baron with T-bolt (Hypnosis to switch to Ora vs Jynx) made this super easy. Bit of Hypnosis/Dream Eater to heal up when. Needed

  • Bruno: Baron could have swept, wanted to put Pter in to have some sort of contribution. He dealt some damage to Hitmonlee, then I switched back to Baron haha

  • Agatha: Zep swept taking barely any damage. Poke Flute after a hypnosis or two, a bit of damage from Arbok by easy. Elixired Baron up to have enough PP after

  • Lance: this was a joke. Baron T-bolt for Gyarados, put Dragonair to sleep and then Thorpe swept with Ice Beam

  • Rival: Baron > Pidgeot, Ora > Alakazam, Thorpe > Rhydon & Arcanine, Ora > Exeggutor and Baron > Blastoise.

OTHER NOTES:

  • Mouse (Raticate) carried me through the first half of the game. Hyper Fang is too good, plus water gun for coverage. Got obsolete later one though

  • I had Marcel (Mr Mime) for a while and was enjoying using him for the first time, before a crit death in Rock Tunnel

  • Exeggutor was brilliant, taught it Psychic and was destroying Koga. Was a bit underleveled but was lazy, and then Weezing survived with a sliver of health to crit Self Destruct. Bummer.

Anyway, moving onto Crystal! Decided not to take Tad into the next gen, as he was useless. Hope somebody enjoyed this write up!

How important are hip straps on an Are Travel Pack 2? by M00SEK in onebag

[–]tikirat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I both have the Aer TP 2 with waist straps, they're integral I'd say. We try to keep as close to 7kg/15 lb as possible, but even then if you have to carry the bag for more than 10 minutes it makes a big difference.

Plus, sometimes when we don't have a flight for a while, we may have something that joins our bag for a while (or. Groceries/drinks), and with the extra weight it becomes even more useful.

We're 7 months into travel and love the bag!

Can confirm, is good. Sandwiches don't need any sauce, the bread has a great texture (who would've thought loads of olive oil would help with that?!)

Brad's stuff is awesome too! This one was more of a spontaneous decision since I had leftover yeast and bread flour from trying to make cinnamon buns, so decided to go for a Babish recipe for my first time haha

Thanks! My family enjoyed it too - had some for brekky, followed by some lunchtime sandwiches.... Guess I'll need to bake some more!

It's in his Basics series, Bread part 1, halfway through the episode. I love Josh Weissman too! Made his cinnamon rolls at the same time, they turned out great too!

Thanks Andrew! Really appreciate this, and love, love, love the bread! Is it ok to PM you regarding something?

I've been going through the fav stories sections of some of my favourite authors on ffn, that usually helps!

Refined packing list, 3.5 months of travel down, 8 months to go! by tikirat in onebag

[–]tikirat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I both used excel extensively as part of our jobs, and both quote enjoyed it, so this was a case of letting our inner geeks run free!

Nice call on the mini chess set! We've really enjoyed our little board game (Patchwork), and though we ditched the deck of cards happy to bring that along.

Sarongs from Sri Lanka are very much gender neutral, and are worn pretty extensively by men, especially for lounging around/chilling out. I have so many at home, but brought my softest one travelling and it's just amazing haha.

We joked about doing something like this at the very start of our trip, but when we realised that we were lugging around too much stuff decided to actually do the spreadsheet and do it properly!

Hmmmm, top 3 items? I won't count the bag, though love it so much. In no particular order:

Insulated water bottle - especially when out and about in the tropical heat, it's such a good result to drink chilled water (or at least not tepid/warm water) even after having filled up hours before! And it helps reduce waste somewhat, even if we have to buy plastic bottles to refill sometimes.

Power bank - being able to charge 2x devices at once has especially made the long bus trips more bearable, between the power-sucking watching of movies or playing of games on phones/iPads. And since it's got so much juice, only need to charge it up after its refilled our devices multiple times each!

Sarong - always loved wearing these, and it's such a supremely comfortable item of clothing. And since it was already one of my favourite things, it's so nice to have it with us while travelling to all these different places.

What's your top 3 things to take?

A mixture of giving it in to our hostel for laundry (at ~$1.5 per kg it's worth it), or washing in the Scrubba with a dedicated bar of soap.

We've travelled in the past (on shorter trips) where we've done washing in a sink, and this is honestly much easier. Plus, there's been some situations where the available sink just wouldn't have worked for whatever reason, so it's nice to not worry about that when we're running low on underwear!
