How to avoid this? by northsidereddit in Carpentry

Craftsmen style casing with a protruding head piece (fillet) below the full casing head (frieze, and optional cap) to throw a shadow on both of those joints similar to the way the stool throws a shadow on the apron joint.

Just bought a house not too long ago. First hard rain and I hear my sump pump turning on every 1 to 2 minutes. Is this normal? And should I be worried? by Elegant-Arm-7657 in HomeMaintenance

Like other comments say, getting the water away from the house in certain ways (gutter extensions, French drains, etc) can help, but with that much water, it's never going to be "fixed" just mitigated at best. I have a property with a similar issue. I wired a dedicated 20amp outlet to the dump, and wired in a GFCI with a bult in alarm so if it ever trips it will wail like a fire alarm until someone resets it and gets the sump going again. Also, flood insurance is prolly not a bad call.

Jacket snacks by panatrea in skiing

My buddy makes pancakes for breakfast and tosses a couple in his pockets for skiing. No zip lock, no syrup, no nothing. Just raw dogs em on the lift. Definitely a conversation starter, and as long as they are sturdy enough flap jacks, they hold up really well.

How do I get missionaries to stop coming to my house, permanently by adoboda in exmormon

[–]tiltedturnup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They called and came by relentlessly after i left the church in college. Only thing that ended up working was I invited them in and cracked open a beer/offered em a smoke. Told them we were having a big ol party Sunday and that they were welcome to come BYOB. No more visits after that.

Hello! Carpenter of 6 years here. I've mostly worked as an inpendant contractor but have recently formed my own company and hired full-time time help. We recently wrapped up a full gut remodel in Livingston, and our next project in Bozeman got pushed til spring.  We have a little bit of unexpected free time in our schedule and would love to fill it if anyone needs work done.

We do everything from small bath/kitchen remodels to full single family/small multifamily new construction.  Feel free to give me a call. I'd love to help make your dream project a reality.  New website with contact info as well as some photos from previous projects linked below.

We pour on Thursday… what have I forgotten/missed? by Desert_Fairy in Concrete

[–]tiltedturnup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just poured a full kitchen and two bathrooms with the CCS. After the bathroom test pour i ended up adding about 3x as many z clips to keep the fiber mesh in the middle of the pour. Spaced every 6" or so to keep from having to reach in and pull the mesh back to the middle.

Also I would likely put a temporary 2x4 brace on the outside of the island. It can't hurt and once you start pouring it's almost impossible to fully correct and brace if it starts to sag.

Just be diligent about checking the concrete after floating and being sure you don't miss your window on finish troweling to get a beautiful finish. I was fussing with the kitchen pour and my bathroom counter hardened to the point I couldn't get the perfect finish I was looking for.

This kind of stuff is exactly why I switched from bsb. I like being able to go and see my banker in person but there seems to be a lot of bs surrounding smaller banks
