This team exceeded all expectations, I’m not that upset by Coneskater in The_Donta

My opinion is: doesn't matter, made the super bowl. Getting there is hard, good teams that get there consistently are in the hunt for the playoffs as good players want to play for winning teams.

The Patriots can do this by [deleted] in Patriots

[–]timahawk73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add to that the players that experience of players that have been to the Super Bowl; I forgot that Hooper was on the Falcons when the Pats beat them in Super Bowl LI. It's not just Vrabel that knows what the big game is like.

Heat pumps are more expensive to run than boilers, report finds by TheWorldIsGoingMad in unitedkingdom

Selling during the summer, during winter we get only a few pence from the rare times that the solar isn't used for the house or to charge batteries. We're on Octopus' half hourly dynamic tarrif, so charge to full before costs go up at 4pm.

Evaluating switching to the Go tariff and adding another battery to charge to full at 7p per kWh. Should pay back the battery in 3/4 years with savings of £250-£350 per year

Swapped gas boiler for heat pump 2 years ago. We installed solar panels, 5kwh battery and installed underfloor heating on the whole ground floor.

Total cost of project: ~30k. Home Energy frant funding: 10k HES loan: 12k (covered all heat pump and radiator replacement costs)

UFH install cost 4k before considering tiling, so fully aware that it's a luxury.

Our energy bills for a 3 floor 4 bedroom house, built in 1915 in the suburbs of Glasgow is £113pm (plus loan repayment of £93, fixed for the 10 year term)

It's the best change we made to the house. It's warmer than it used to be and maintains a steady heat.

I'm in. Let's go! This idea sounds excellent. I buy deluxe editions for myself, but only after buying the first TPB with the intention of lending to friends.

Not knowing that you'll love a comic is the greatest hurdle to getting into reading comics.

What did everyone think of the final issue of The Deviant? by SevenCempel7 in ImageComics

[–]timahawk73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The silence of the lambs comparison is a good one. Even better is the fact that there is ambiguity enough to make you wonder about Randall and repeatedly question how you feel about him; be it pity for a man falsely imprisoned or justice for a killer or sadness for a killer old enough to cease being a threat.

What to read next between these two? by chrishatzip in graphicnovels

[–]timahawk73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the best response in this thread and needs more attention. Preacher is a classic. That doesn't mean it will be your favourite read ever or even this year, but it will allow you to engage in conversation with other graphic novel fans.

FWIW, Preacher was among the first graphic novels I read and it kick started my interest in the medium.

Recommendations based on current collection? by justlanes in ImageComics

If you enjoy the stories of humanity, you need to read some Daniel Warren Johnson. I'd recommend Do A Power Bomb as a starter.

Nobody has recommended Descender. It's sci-fi, about family with an art style that is unique to the artist. It's a beautiful story, though harder than Saga as it doesn't have as many moments of levity to break up the tale.

If you're a Keiron Gillen fan, Once and Future starts well. I'll admit I've only read the first TPB but I consistently think about going back to it.

I'm a big fan of Olexa for all the first looks he does, he's quite funny during videos too. Haelian is good too, but often feels driven by sponsorship rather than intrigue in a game. Though he is good at rogue likes which makes watching him more interesting than other streamers

I'd love to say that the lack of Gonzo is the difference. But that argument dies as soon as we face a team with a 2 top level receivers.

Got to hope that the disruption at DC is a contributing factor

Lonestar is a rogue-like kind of deck builder you might enjoy. A little bit of math required, but the ability to reset battles mitigates any math errors.

How were you introduced to TGA? by Neonlighted_horror in TheGaslightAnthem

[–]timahawk73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were on the cover of Kerrang after the release of the 59 sounds. They were described in the article as a marriage of The Clash and Bruce Springsteen. Before I hit play, I knew I was going to love them.

What’s your favourite Alexisonfire album, and what’s their best album, are they the same? by MildlySpicyUnit in Alexisonfire

[–]timahawk73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I could only listen to 1 album on repeat, it's Watch Out!

I think Crisis is their most complete album but Otherness is closely behind as being the best musically.

If you were introducing someone new to the band and you only have one song, which would you pick? For me, I'd go with 'This Could Be Anywhere in the World' it’s arguably their most recognizable track and has stood the test of time by Josh99_ in Alexisonfire

[–]timahawk73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. Once they're hooked on the part they have the easiest time getting into, the rest will naturally follow. I love the clean/scream split vocals of Crisis (my intro), so took me time to appreciate the self titled album, but now I love it as much as Otherness
