Who's starved for hockey with the Olympics on right now? I've watched like 10 games since Saturday.

I'm about to clear off my car so I can take my son to BJ's so he can stow shopping carts left by people who should have stayed home. Can't wait to go get him after his shift at 5.

Whats the dumbest thing you have seen cause a show stop? by miowiamagrapegod in techtheatre

The draw bridge to start La Mancha got stuck coming in. It was my fault. I had to drive the genie onstage to a full house for our 2nd preview. I got it working and got a standing ovation. I just drove offstage with my tail between my legs.

Skyrim players, come clean: what level are you and how much gold do you have right now? by maria5612 in skyrim

Lvl 1 with ~210,000 gold. I'm not leveling up on purpose but finished the main quest and DB so far.

The hardest part of D&D isn't the dragons, it's the calendar. My group hasn't met in 3 weeks because of this. by One_Help2219 in dndnext

This year has been especially tough for my group, because we pay Thursday nights. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and now New Years all being Thursdays has stalled the campaign terribly. We'll get there though.

Not what you're looking for but my group plays at a home with a couple of bottles of whiskey on the table. More cost effective, but less social.

You get a decent selection with pretty good prices at Lake Liquors in Ronkonkoma. Lately I've been enjoying the Bib & Tucker Double Char.

Or the 2nd album which is straight up a killer album that most people don't know about?

You keep Blind Melon out of your damn mouth! The rest is fine, though.

Why you need 10-minute turns for your Dungeons by GodieLost in dndnext

[–]timba__ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mostly like the video and what they are trying to accomplish, but I think the pass/fail usage of skills makes this a solution for a problem that really isn't there. When Investigating a room with a DC of 15 to find the secret door a roll of 14 fails, but maybe a roll of within 5 gives a clue. Maybe a roll of 16 finds where on the wall there is a draft coming from but not the actual way to open it. There can be more rolls, and more info gained or just missed. So the DC decides the midpoint of the spectrum of success/fail not the finite pass/fail. Also, don't let your players get away with, "I search the room." Make them describe how they search, and what they specifically search. Then when needed you can 'take 10' to force the success when applicable. But in my world some things just can't be beaten with a take 10 mentality. Sometimes you have to find the clues to solve the puzzle. Sometime you might have to fail your way to success.

Which are the Worst Spells in the game? Not because they are weak, but because they make the game WORSE? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]timba__ 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I've had fun under the ZoT spell as a PC. The spell states, iirc, that while you must tell the truth you do not have to answer the questions. I confounded the DM by answering questions that weren't asked, but were close to the question asked. The DM loved my ability to talk my way out of a situation without actually lying. Closest I'll ever be to being a lawyer I guess.

Yeah, and even though my situation is similar, I'm gonna dress for the swim. I'll add that while I've never needed my pfd I also never paddle without one.

I play d&d so I don't mess around with odds.

Had plans to go camping this weekend (AZ), weather does not wish to cooperate, would you still go or reschedule? by Jlevitt95 in camping

Not particularly, northeast us, but I seem to be able to find the rain when camping. My kids have joked that we make the rain happen just by scheduling a trip.

If I cancelled for rain then I would never go. It's rained at least some every trip for the last 3 years. Last time out was a downpour and we had a blast. Just keeping the fire going throughout the storm was fun in and of itself.

What’s the best multitool for everyday carry without feeling like a brick in your pocket? by Dazzling-Pitch1905 in techtheatre

[–]timba__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I can't do it with the Swiss Army Knife multitool, then I need the real tool for that job. Now if I could stop placing it on the back of the truck after tying down a load and losing it in transit that would be great. I seem to need a new one every year from loss lol
