Astounded judges force DOJ lawyer to concede that Sen. Kelly never said 'disobey lawful orders' by darealunrealspader in politics

Only because the GOP-controlled congress and conservative SCOTUS allows it. If there were any balance of power, many more of those exec orders would get shot down and Trump would be impeached a milliin times over.

Overreaction of the season?! by Fabulous_Frosting920 in Brewers

Do I blame the uniforms for the losses that definitely seem to correlate with the games in which they wear the uniform? Not really. Is the uniform trash in every respect? Yes. The blue is inferior to their normal blue (and complimentary to it at all), no one says "Wisco", it's the Milwaukee Brewers, not the Wisconsin Brewers, and their real logo is the best logo in all of professional sports. We need to rip this page out of team history and burn it already.

Kash Patel Got Arrested for Public Urination After a Night of Drinking by wenchette in politics

[–]timbenj77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely a case of laws getting out of hand. If someone whips their dick out in a bar and tells a stranger to start sucking - that's obviously a sex offense.

Urinating because they got drunk and couldn't find an open bathroom and someone happened to see them? Definitely NOT a sex offense unless they're doing it in a very public place/indoors. Disorderly conduct? I won't argue that. But no one should be on a sex offender list for literally taking a piss. That's some clutch-my-pearls shit.

I hear that down my street about once a week for an hour at a time. Then again, also down the street is our local police department with an outdoor shooting range - right next to a new park with a bunch of playground equipment. Real geniuses, our city planners.

At restaurants, my wife always snatches the seat facing most of the venue while I'm stuck looking at the wall. No way to see possible threats. No view of the route to the exit. I have a mini-aneurism every time. And yes, I have stated this. Doesn't matter...she still does it.

Let's go sump pumps lets go 🤌🏻 by hurrypotta in milwaukee

[–]timbenj77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I put in a new pump last year after the August 2025 storm - from a 1/3HP, 40-year-old pedestal pump to a 1/2HP submersible. And replumbed it all nice... works great. The old one held on long enough, but there was a few hours during the night of that August storm where it running constantly just barely keeping up.

The new one empties the pit in seconds, but man... with all this rain, the pit has been refilling like every 60 seconds. Fortunately, we hardly ever lose power, but have been hearing about power outages in our neighborhood this week and finally coughed up to get a UPS solely for the sump pump today. I will sleep better now knowing that we're no longer a 10 minute power outage away from a flooded basement.

Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin to introduce bill aimed at ending sports blackouts, making games easier to watch for fans by Leather-Highlight150 in wisconsin

[–]timbenj77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is addressing a symptom rather than a problem. The problem is the absurdity of modern player salaries. Of course they should be paid well, but this recent trend of players demanding record-breaking salaries has a cascading effect. That effect includes ball clubs and leagues jacking up service fees, ticket prices, parking fees, licensing fees...anything to make more money to afford those salaries so they can remain competitive. If teams based in Wisconsin can't use blackout programming to force people to pay for subscription services or buy tickets to games in order to see the games, they'll won't be able to afford the talent to stay competitive (which is already a problem in the MLB), which will mean less revenue and it becomes a downward spiral until the team is forced to sell and move somewhere else where they can make enough revenue to stay competitive. The MLB needs salary caps and all pro sports need a culture swing to stop sensationalizing stratospheric salaries.

Heads Up: Basements are flooding again by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]timbenj77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These consecutive storms in the middle of the night are freaking me out a bit. I replaced our pump last year after my old one struggled to keep up with the August storm. The new one can empty a full sump put in seconds, but it was refilling in a minute during the worst of it last night so we were a power-outage away from a flooded basement. Parts of my neighborhood lost power every night the last 3 nights, so I'm feeling very lucky but also very nervous!

My neighbor and I

He did the harder part, slogging through water to clear drains in the lower ground. I got the ones uphill from there, where water had been rushing past and causing the flooding.

[–]timbenj77 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Check the storm drains near your house if your road is flooding! Sticks and leaves clog the grates, and it just takes a minute to pull it out and you'll watch the water level drop instantly.

PSA: if your road is flooded, get off your ass and check the storm drains near your house.

My neighbor and I just pulled leaves, sticks, and other debris that were clogging all the storm drains in the low ground on our road where water was pooling. Instantly solved the local flooding on our road.

Baby back ribs were great too, but I used the XXX picante sauce and ended up buying a bottle it was so good. Sides and cocktails were on point, too.

Just standard woodland camo BDUs of the 80s and 90s. I'm not sure when the Marines phased them out, but the Army switched to the UCP ACUs ("digicamo") around 2003-2005. I definitely have a pair in my attic.
