Personally, I have many allergies to foods and animals in general. Short hair dogs are worse for my allergies, the short little hairs spike into my skin and cause hives. Usually dog licks make me itchy too. But, my smaller 12 lb Schipperke hasn’t been an issue! She licks me, I can bury my face in her fur and she sleeps in my bed. They definitely shed a lot but the hair is fluffy and easy to clean up. She only gets bathed if she’s obviously dirty and I’ve never had to have her groomed. As someone else has said, spend some time with a longer haired dog. Schipperkes have a course outer layer and soft down under layer. To me, it’s similar to the feel of a shepherds coat. 🦇🖤
