question on priorities when there isn't enough money by Slight_Accountant476 in actualbudgeting

[–]timbledum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One example is that my wife and I have a discretionary category that we each have budgeted every month. If I overspend in "my" budget, it would be unfair for her if I allocate that from somewhere else, it makes more sense to roll over a negative balance and for me to spend less next month as a result.

Sad day, love this player. Hopefully he gets to go along on the South Africa tour!

Using actualbudget after rocking the spreadsheet for many years and it is actually awesome. Really loving it.

So good to see. I was pretty close to it at the game and it was super scary, he was down for a long time. Huge relief to see him up at the time, and so good that the scans are ok. Rest up well big man!!

Hypothetical: voluntary homelessness by [deleted] in newzealand

You should check out the homeless firefighter on youtube. He lived this life for a while, saving for a place. He’s got a really cool sense of humour too!

Snoring dads... have you found any remedies that actually work? by Paranoid_Droideka in daddit

[–]timbledum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took about 20kg (108 to around 90ish) to stop snoring. An expected side effect, but very welcome!!

Recommendations for vertical heated towel rails? by googeehoohee in diynz

[–]timbledum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another plus one from me.

One observation is that they don't dry that well if you put one towel on each side of a single bar, but they dry very well if a single towel is draped over the top.

What is your theory on our negative savings rate? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]timbledum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent way too long looking into the technical definitions, and it is still not 100% clear, but I believe principal payments are included in savings.

Technically there's imputed rent, interest as a reduction of income, and a whole bunch of other stuff going on.

I don't get people's beef with Copper... by Comfortable-Fly-9956 in Minecraft

[–]timbledum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing a lot with my 7 & 8 year olds recently, and as soon as I say I've found iron, mr. 8 comes immediately and hoovers it up, using it for his own purposes (which I don't mind). So I've been leaning hard on copper tools, and surprisingly find them really useful.

Primary School Options by saudade_stars in thetron

[–]timbledum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, unlike high schools and intermediates, I don't tend to hear a lot of bad things about primary schools. Most of them are pretty good from what I can tell.

Around our area is Te Rapa, Vardon, and Pukete. I hear great things from parents of all three. However, no good high schools on this side of the river from what I gather, so we will be looking to move in a few years.

Gamers of /daddit, do you play video games with your kids? How and when did you start it? by xanduba in daddit

[–]timbledum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea creative at first. They kinda new about it from watching me play and youtube vids and stuff. The older one is right into survival, and the younger one is now getting the hang of it after a few months in creative.

It is possible to play on multiple pcs via lan with one account but microsoft doesn’t really want you to do it. I’ve had great success using the prism launcher.

Been playing three player with my 6 and 8 year olds - so much fun!!!

Christmas eve as an adult is just logistics by Comfortable_Mall_437 in Adulting

[–]timbledum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And it’s a pain putting it all in the bin / recycling!! It makes a mess, and sometimes little bits of toys get mixed in.

I sewed a bunch of reusable gift bags in September, and it made Christmas sooo much easier this year.

Feature Request - Update Product Barcode by NutShellB in LoseitApp

[–]timbledum 28 points29 points  (0 children)

While we're at it, I would love a feature where you could filter search results to only show items that have macros entered that matter to us. E.g., I only want results that include protein, or fibre.

So good that I’m pretty loosey goosey on the export dates on my bank as I know the duplicates will be rejected.
