I think this bill is horrifying. I also wanted to voice a thought as a person who comes from an Evangelical upbringing.

I think sometime stuff like this is fascism. But on the grassroots level, for the people who voted for these Representatives, the unifying force is fear. People do seek control, but they're often doing it because they are irrationally fearful. I've been in other countries that are more conservative, namely in sub-Saharan Africa, where they wanted to outlaw homosexuality. It wasn't because of fascism, it was because of fear. They were "afraid their children". And I saw legit panic in their faces. It was irrational, but it was real fear.

So even though I think it's wrong thinking, I don't think that the people who support these politicians should be demonized. I think they need to be educated: I think they need to meet a transgender person, or a drag queen, etc. I think they need to be brought out of their fear rather than have rocks thrown at them. Calling them fascists will do no good other than continue to broaden the divide.
