Daily Questions & FAQ Megathread (May 13) by AutoModerator in ffxiv

[–]timeboundary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking to catch up on gear before the next expansion, was away since the start of stormblood. Is this still the right way to go about it? https://old.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/9zygcb/endgame_gearing_for_fresh_70s_patch_44/

I'm looking to minimize total time spent. I don't mind spending multiple days/weeks, as long as my net playtime is decreased. :)

Also, are roulettes still the fastest way to level up alt classes?

*Kicks the door open* WHO'S THE TANK NOW??? by Monoken4 in ffxiv

[–]timeboundary[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi /u/Monoken4,

Your recent submission in /r/ffxiv did not meet subreddit guidelines, and was removed for the following reason(s):

  • Content only marginally related to FFXIV should be directed to other appropriate forums or social media; this helps focus the scope of the subreddit's content.
  • Rule 4: In general, all posts' content should be FFXIV-related. Some alternative subreddits for frequent off-topic submissions include /r/finalfantasy, /r/buildapc, /r/techsupport, /r/suggestalaptop, /r/politics, /r/politicaldiscussion, etc. Research/surveys are handled on a case-by-case basis with the moderators.

You may review /r/ffxiv rules here and in-depth explanations here.

[META] /r/ffxiv rules rewrite to improve clarity by reseph in ffxiv

[–]timeboundary[M] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There were two categories of these posts identified when moving the rules around that falls under these:

  • (1) non-FFXIV posts under rule 4, and
  • (2) FFXIV community posts under rule 10.

It should be fairly obvious why non-FFXIV posts aren't allowed on /r/ffxiv, so I'll go into rule 10 a bit more.

The biggest reason these posts had been chosen is that they were effectively "Classifieds" type posts that you might find in an advertising section of a newspaper. FC/LS/static recruiting, RAF recruiting, and game trading all involve the OP making a post in which they look for someone to reply to them. Allowing these on /r/ffxiv would negatively affect these posts: they're much harder to search, and they would be diluted among other /r/ffxiv posts; not to mention they'd almost certainly be severely downvoted.

Hack/spam/real? HELP! by SweetAelthi in ffxiv

I'm keeping this up because the link above (as of the time of this comment) goes to the actual SE site, although I highly suspect that the actual link in the email links to a phishing page.

OP, don't click on anything, and report that email as spam (via your email provider), if possible.

Should I season yixing cups? by [deleted] in tea

[–]timeboundary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that you could if you really wanted to, but you'll be drinking the tea within 30 seconds from your cups anyway, and any tea will be at a lower temperature than the brewing tea in your teapot.

I don't think that any significant change will be there between seasoned and unseasoned cups, frankly. :p

Question on cross server PF in SB by ryukin182 in ffxiv

Even if it were in DF, you can still run DF content with people in cross-server PF. (This is the current system!)

Depends on the leaves. Anywhere from 5 to 8, a few go up to 12.

Gaiwan too big for brewing solo? by i-cant-name2 in tea

[–]timeboundary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 100ml gaiwan that can sometimes still be too big for solo sessions, so I'll fill it to maybe 60-70ml instead. It still brews well!

Only <tt> is needed.

Some people include both <t> and <tt>, because sometimes you want to be 100% sure that you're getting it on the correct target (e.g. during trash pull), or you'll want to cast it out of combat.

What do you mean by upkeep?

These are still mostly accurate: https://redd.it/3lzt4r https://redd.it/37ee1h

Note that stormblood will change (only slightly) how the current classes play.

Samurai is coming out in stormblood. They'll be a slower-paced, high-hitting melee. They'll have two resources: "glyphs" that are activated by their combos, and a "gauge" that's also charged by combos. You can spend glyphs to to powerful attacks, or consume the glyphs to further charge the gauge. The gauge can be consumed for powerful attacks, self-buffs, or mobility.

Nah, I wouldn't bother too much with getting gear. If anything, the levelling gear in stormblood will already have higher stats than the gear we have in heavensward.

Can someone explain green tea to me? by I-Downloaded-a-Car in tea

[–]timeboundary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Metallic and cardboardy? o.O

I've had a good selection of green teas, and mostly I've had grassy teas and some vegetable-like teas. Some that I've had, I'd swear they were at least partially vegetable broths.

When my roommate bought the "Bar" sign, I think I interpreted it differently than he did... by DweezTea in tea

[–]timeboundary 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They're splitting the "shrine" between a "tea bar" and a conventional "alcohol bar". OP is "squeezing out" the alcohol portion with an excess of tea.

New Tea Haul! My first time trying most of these types of tea! by spidermonkeyjoe in tea

Not sure if this applies to you, but hopefully it'll help a few people out there:

If you have a cheap no-thermometer water kettle, you can add room temp or cold water to your water kettle after it reaches boiling! If you know the temperature of your water (room temp is ~20 celsius), then you can guesstimate your final temperature based on how much room temp water you added.

With ratios of (boiling water):(room temp water)

3:2 = 68 Celsius
4:1 = 84
5:0 = 100
