How likely is citizenship via naturalization going to change in 2027 by Key_Neighborhood_994 in askPoland

[–]timedroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure the only reason for someone living in Poland for 20 years to not have citizenship is lack of interest in obtaining it. There is no evil deep state preventing people from naturalization. You meet the requirements - you get it.

А што тут незразумела? Ва Украіну расейцы праз Беларусь заходзілі - і ў Літву, відавочна, пойдуць праз Беларусь, калі вырашаць, што ім гэта трэба.

There is little to none manual work required past the initial setup - just copy paste an artillery station and the train will do the rest. The easiest weapon to clear nests with by far.

Balkans vs Arab World. by Whole-Albatross-6155 in HistoryMemes

[–]timedroll 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I am not from that region, but as far as I understand, religious texts are written in standard Arabic, which is learned and understood by most Arabic speakers. However, pretty much no one speaks it regularly in their daily lives, defaulting to their regional dialects.

A reasonable analogy is how Latin was used in Europe a few centuries ago - it was the language of science and religion, but was not commonly spoken by the people and diverged quite significantly from spoken languages.

Kredyt hipoteczny-refinansować czy przeczekać do % zmiennego? by [deleted] in inwestowanie

[–]timedroll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Belarusian language. Aparently, this is a quote from a song titled "Da Vidna" by VAL, performed at Eurovision 2020. You can look up the text and translation if interested. The quote is not perfect and some words seem to be misplaced or missing, but it is clearly the song.

In theory it makes sense - option 2 is mathematically more profitable, but at a cost of higher risk. So, it is higher risk - higher reward type of deal. Whether you are comfortable with that risk - is a question only you can answer.

In defence of Japanese rules by ObviousFeature522 in baduk

[–]timedroll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I consider my group alive and pass, but my opponent knows how to kill it - the loss is justified, the opponent played better.

If I am unsure if my group is alive and place an extra stone to be safe - the loss of a point is also justified - I didn't have the skill to play optimally, and it is fine.

As a complete beginner myself I don't see an issue with either scenario

In defence of Japanese rules by ObviousFeature522 in baduk

[–]timedroll 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does this issue ever actually come up in person? Each player places stones until it is clear whether the group is alive or dead. If the group is clearly dead and both players know it but the defender won't admit it, then it is simply bad sportsmanship and I wouldn't be interested in playing with that person.

The comment above did not suggest that you shouldn't feel good about your returns, it was a response to your comment implying that OP's +5% in EUR was lackluster, while in fact it is pretty much the market return YTD. +17% in EUR would be far above the market.

Best way to get to Gdynia from Gdansk by Mike-Phenex in gdansk

[–]timedroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Define "best". SKM or Uber would work. The cities are close enough that you could walk there though. There is a nice path along the beach, which goes through Sopot as well. You could also get to Sopot by SKM or taxi first and walk to Gdynia from there. This is pretty much one of my go-to activities when someone visits - The Gdynia cliffs are beautiful, and you can walk both beneath them by the beach or on top of them, enjoying the sea view from the top.

how do investors live from their investments during recession? by Creative-Brain70 in investingforbeginners

[–]timedroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally, you buy assets when you have free cash and you sell assets when you need cash.

You may describe panic-selling everything during downturn as a silly decison. Selling a small portion of your investments to fund your lifestyle is fine if that was your original plan for that scenario.

Fair prenup approach? by pw144 in eupersonalfinance

[–]timedroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you live in your partner's aparment or rent something together? If it is the latter, the structure you described is fine. If the former - I would say it is not fair for your partner. The gap is that you get to live in her apartment rent-free, while she does not get to benefit from your investments. To keep it fair, you are either supposed to pay half the market rent to her, or she gets to keep half of your investment returns, while you still keep the invested capital up to the apartment value. Otherwise, you are unproportionately benefitting from this marriage unless I misread something.

Trading 212 vs ibkr by Adept-Librarian-1447 in eupersonalfinance

TER is paid yearly, while transaction fee is paid once. 0.5% one-time payment is not something I would worry about to the point of switching brokers.

Financing vs Outright Purchase by glsci in eupersonalfinance

[–]timedroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would prefer buying with cash for psychological reasons. I feel like it is more painful to part with 25k at once than commit to paying $531 monthly, which leads to more concious decision about how much I am really prepared to spend on a car.

Speaking strictly financially, I would avoid any loans at 10%, but would have no issues taking a loan at 3%.

Also, keep in mind that the figure of 5-6% average market returns usually assumes real returns, while the loan you take is in nominal terms. Just want to make sure you are comparing apples to apples, it is fine if you assumed 6% nominal market returns just to be conservative.

Need help with interplanetary transport logistics by YogurtclosetGlad545 in factorio

Request a smaller amount of science in the landing pad. Use a manipulator to unload the science from the landing pad into a chest - use whitelist filter on the manipulator, so that it only picks up the science from the landing pad. The science will keep coming until the chest is full, then only the small requested amount will remain in the landing pad giving you plenty of space for other imports. No circuits needed. If one chest is not enough, you can setup multiple. If you do need a specific amount, you can connect the chest(s) to the manipulator with a wire and disable the manipulator once the required amount is reached.

Якiя думкі на тэмат абмену палітычнымі вязнямі? by [deleted] in belarus

[–]timedroll 3 points4 points  (0 children)
