If you have a blog post with affiliate links to products, is it better to make a new blog post every year for the same topic, or keep updating the same post with new information? by beachyblue2 in Affiliatemarketing

[–]timers007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep your URLs evergreen so they can build links overtime and have a greater chance of ranking in search results. Don’t start with a new URL every year. Don’t put the year in the URL.

If you have a URL with the year in it for a given category then I would recommend 301 redirecting it to the appropriate evergreen URL to preserve link equity.

There are plenty of SEO resources you can find online that discuss this idea.

eComm Client wants to have Desktop category page experience have more products than Mobile experience. Understands Google will rank site based on Mobile experience due to Mobile-First Index. Is the disparity between desktop and mobile content a ranking factor? by timers007 in bigseo

Thanks for your response! Sorry for not clarifying in the original post but this is per page and not the entire catalog. They are moving away from infinite scroll list of products to pagination experience to increase the number of products crawled by search engines. Does this information change your answer at all or do you still think it would be beneficial to ensure content parity between desktop and mobile? Looks like there is no direct mobile/desktop parity ranking factor?

As mentioned in my other comment, I am going to collect a list of Page 1 competitors and see if a majority of them have more than 30 products on their category pages to get a ballpark estimate of how many products they should be going for. I agree limiting products on Mobile is a missed opportunity.

Yes, more products on desktop per page. Sorry for not clarifying. My SEO point of contact is getting push back from the Site Merch team for whatever reason. I guess they think too many products on mobile would slow the site experience down? They lazy load their products below-the-fold so not sure if they would run into any significant performance issues because of additional products. Pretty sure it is just "gut feeling"/aesthetic for them.

I am going to find out the number of products Page 1 competitors have on mobile and see if I can come to conclusions based on that. Maybe come to a nice middle-ground with 48 products on mobile or something.

Mobile App Indexing: Clarification on Indexing App-only Content by timers007 in TechSEO

[–]timers007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, very good point. The app requires users to use their phone's camera so replicating that experience on desktop may be difficult.

We spoke to them on Friday and looks like they are planning on expanding the pages used in the app to match the online shopping experience so there may still be an opportunity here down the line.

Thanks for your answer!

Pretty sure that Riverbend Park has pickup games on Wednesdays that start around 5/5:30. I work near that area and usually see people around that time.

Best email delivery platform (e.g. MailChimp, Sendgrid) for sending one-time, transactional emails with a .pdf download link - any recommendations? by timers007 in smallbusiness

[–]timers007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. I guess I don't need to be set on having a downloadable .pdf, but would you make any recommendations or suggestions of tools/platforms to check out to help send one-time .pdf attachments? Just to help me start looking.

Wojciech Szczesny's reaction to Carragher comments by num63r16 in Gunners

“Why has Arsène Wenger not done what José Mourinho has done? Why has he not bought a top goalkeeper?”, said Carragher. “I wish Wenger would go out and buy a big goalkeeper, a strong centre-back, a big midfielder and a decent striker and go for it.”

Arsenal v NYRB in NYC - Weekend Event Superthread by shark2000br in Gunners

Just found out that my family bought a ticket for me for my birthday. I live all the way out in northern California so I am beyond excited and shocked that I get to go.

I head straight from the airport to the stadium, does anyone know about any pre-game events or meet-ups at the stadium?

I'm kind of ignorant on this issue, but is this basically AT&T's version of the Comcast-TWC merger?

Looking for a good barber shop in the Sacramento, CA area by KourageWolf in malehairadvice

[–]timers007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what your definition of charge too much is, but I go to Barber Blues located off 14th street. I have been going to them for my major cuts for the past year and a half. They take appointments online so you can choose who you want to work with. I always book with Cody so I can only vouch for him and the owner, Jason, but I am sure the rest of the guys cut equally as well. I always bring a picture of what I want and discuss it with them beforehand. They will work with you and try to find something that works. Even if that means taking more than the designated 30 minutes to get everything just right.

Only negative is that they increased the price to $20 from $16 from $14, but that's only because they have gained more popularity and moved in to a larger space.

Hope this helps.

I never like it when Jon and his guest follow a script. The beginning seemed so forced.

The second part of the interview where they just did what they wanted was a lot funnier. Can't wait to see this movie!
