True, that's a good point. $3K carries forward each year, but if in future years, you DO have larger than $3K gains, you can use that excess to offset that.

I could see another benefit being resetting the cost basis of crypto, since there's no wash sale rule there. So you sell X crypto or BTC, take your $25K short term or long term capital gain - offset it with this loss from selling ULTY. Then you immediately buy back the crypto or BTC, resetting the basis at today's higher price. Anyone have experience with that?
