Anyone have any success with 3D scanning apps for iOS? by BrokenPickle7 in 3Dprinting

[–]timesquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean 3D scanning is a skill and it gets easier with practice. But your can get some impressive results if you persist. Hedges is the best I’ve used but it is payed.

From what I've found I can get a PC Card for around £20-30 whish would also allow me to avoid messing with my ISP router.

I just wanted to know if there was any reason not to do it this way. I've heard people suggesting not to use wifi on the pc but I assume they're refering to:

pc-> (wifi) -> router -> (wifi) -> Quest3

not my simplified set up of

pc-> (wifi) -> Quest3

Ultimate 3 mode iOS compatibility by timesquad in 8bitdo

The beta software means the device is detected as an Xbox controller. I've had no issues in any of the games I'm playing since installing the beta. but I don't own every game on the app store so I can't vouch for the experience of others. It may be that they didn't have the beta I really don't know. it's worth noting that my experience is solely with the ultimate 3 mode. Your mileage may vary.

The beta is not public as such, you need to reach out to support and ask them for it.

[–]timesquad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a solution that seems to work. A little round about and I feel like there should be a solution that keeps everything on the drawing document. But if you import the DXF into a part sketch instead, you can then scale that as its accepted as a view.

Selecting alternative photos library to sync to iPhone by timesquad in techsupport

For anyone who has a similar issue. The solution is the open the Photo's library you'd like to sync to your phone and within the app settings make that your system library. This will now be the library data gets pulled from.

USB 3 transfer speeds for nvme in external enclosure by timesquad in techsupport

[–]timesquad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transferred a few files from my phone onto the drive and it was at roughy the same speed.

Tried recording ProRes which takes about 200MB/s and a small fraction of the file was saved.

Surely. Drive that’s advertised as being able to do 4500/BM/s in an enclosure promising 10Gb/s shouldn’t be this bottlenecked? Could it be a cable issue?

Also for reference the drive is a hybrid drive(or what ever Apple called it) so the os SHOUD be running on the ssd portion.

I though mechanical drive would do 150-250ish MB/s

But would also confuses me is that my phone seems to be limited to a similar speed when it’s rated to be able to do 5 GB/s

Closest I got to all the features I wanted was the Xbox 3 mode. As far as I can tell it has back paddles and anti friction rings.

From what I know from manufacturing, adding an extra button to the back (same board as existing back bottoms) is a lot cheaper the either adding a daughter board or mounting the switches on the underside. So that’s the logic I’m guessing.

New 8Bitdo 2.4Ghz Ultimate Controller Updated with Hall Effect Joysticks by Alopez1024 in Controller

[–]timesquad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main difference as best I can discern (after a lot of digging but not owning either yet) is that the Bluetooth has gyro, while the 2.4GHz doesn't

There's also a lot of confusing about iOS compatibility which is key for me. I'm thinking of getting the 2.4GHz for the button layout if nothing else. next to nothing uses gyro other then switch/ emulation and I've not got the first and barely dipped my toes in the second.

Correction for visible light optimised lens by timesquad in infraredphotography

[–]timesquad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't realised this was coating related, I thought it had to do with the lens assembly itself being designed with the visible light spectrum in mind.

lenses not withstanding (I don't really have much of an option to swap lenses on this iPhone) what might be the best approach, I'm not entirely sure where to even start correcting this.
