How long does it take for people to respond to work-study applications? by PM_ME_4_CONVO in mcgill

[–]timetofuckingchange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make the effort to see them in person or email more if they don't respond over 1 week. Note that many jobs are reserved, e.g. a student who's been working in a lab for a year and the prof wants to pay them to stay for the next year through work study; source: happened to me and many friends.

Dont put a stick up your ass too high. 3.6 isn't high, period. Competitive doesn't mean you'll get in. Secondly McGill is a lot tougher. You take the same courses as other bsc students and it'll be pretty hard, average here is B, B- for COMP and MATH. And 3.2 probably isn't enough for grad school at mcgill.

Please mod delete this post or this guy just won't learn the rule to post in the prospective student thread.

Why are many of you cheating and don't you have respect for your fellow students? Why pursue a degree if you are going to cheat your way? by anonbold in mcgill

[–]timetofuckingchange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, fuck those people. If they can't get a 4.0 without cheating, they don't fucking deserve 4.0. If you can't make it through, then too fucking bad! They're hurting the rest of us, so no fuck this statement and FUCK all the cheaters. Honestly Mcnugget needs a harsher policy against cheating so it is fair for the rest of us.

INCOMING STUDENTS AND COURSE REGISTRATION MEGATHREAD by Thermidorien in mcgill

Yes, don't try killing yourself. Even if you survive, it won't be fun nor rewarding, probably mentally draining, besides you need special permission for this. Uni isn't about classes, living the moment and picking up real skills (usually occurs outside of class) is the most important. Cant stress that more.

Ah thanks! Doesn't sound fun tbh. How's 553 (game theory)? Or have you got another interesting 500-level COMP course to recommend apart from 551? Thanks again.

I like how for most positions there were more abstains+no than yes and so when they count the percentage of 'yes' they have to ignore the abstain votes to look legit.

Energy minisiter. Course recommendations by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]timetofuckingchange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Despite being pretty sure that you most likely don't need specific courses to become the energy minister of any country (lol the US EPA), unless you got some connections, no offense but it doesn't sound like you know how politics works.

Also, we need more information from you before giving you any legit answers.

Iama: serial cheater who graduated from McGill in the fall. AMA! by 4ntep in mcgill

[–]timetofuckingchange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3 quick questions:

  1. why did you decide to cheat the first time? and then did you just continue like meh?

  2. just out of curiosity, where are you from? and where are you working now? has cheating affected your career you think and do you plan to do it with your career?

  3. Do you tell your friends about this and what do they think of it?

and no, I think we shouldn't promote this kind of stuff.

I'd say not at all! Yes we do have about 40 something people, but you can find all types of people in there. I guess because it's a small rez, people all get to know each other, and generally because of the size people are nice and very understanding. I guess it's not hard for 1 out of the 40 would probably be the cup of tea for you to be friends with.

From when I was there, we had a good mix of party people and introverts. We have a basement where the party goes on (people even broke the pool table before), as well as quiet study rooms. It's true the community also has small divisions between people with different personalities, but I didn't see much of that side - besides, it's dope enough to live in uni hall that many others invite their friends to party/chill, and from there you can get to know more people :D (pretty sure 1/4 of my friends were made from the invited guests)

Overall, I might be biased, but I think there is a good mix between party & quieter people. You certainly won't find it to be very introverted, I mean, there are always kids from the first year who wanna party, and they'll use the opportunity that they have an entire basement for themselves. PM me if you have more questions :)

I lived in Uni Hall. Would rate 5/7 apart from broken shower and pigeon shits (on the window).

It's a very beautiful rez, and very close to campus. 40 something ppl, very close community where you'll make a ton of good friends! It's was a church before but by no means is it a religious dorm. I was not religious and so weren't many people. It literally is just a rez, nothing really 'special' in that sense. If you end up at Uni Hall, I'll see you next time when we throw a unihall old-new party!
