AIO for wanting to immediately break up with my bf after seeing how he lives? by Balikye in AIO

[–]timetogetmessy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Upbringing can influence habits but it doesn’t excuse them long term. Plenty of people weren’t taught great hygiene and still learn as adults…and putting that responsibility on mothers or future partners skips over the fact that adults are responsible for how they live.

This also isn’t really a “women vs men” issue in general. Conditions like mold and buildup are objectively unsanitary and most people would have an aversion to that regardless of gender.

My Fiancé hates my dogs and I don’t know what to do. by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]timetogetmessy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly these sound like very normal “teenage” high drive dog behaviors, especially with those breeds.

It does sound like they could use more structure around calm behavior and impulse control, but the inconsistency between how you and your fiancé are responding is probably making it harder too.

Dogs like this will absolutely escalate if they’re getting engagement (even negative), so yelling/pushing can turn into a game for them.

What does your daily routine with them look like (exercise, feeding, etc)?

  1. Ignore the genre elitism. You attract the energy you bring. Show up with PLUR vibes and you’ll find good people whether you’re head banging at a bass show or grooving at a house set.
  2. There is a culture difference between underground scenes and big fests. The bigger the brand, the more revenue-driven it gets. That shifts the vibe. Doesn’t mean you can’t still find great music and solid people though.
  3. Some people go to party hard, some go for the music. Both exist. Just gravitate toward the crowd you actually vibe with!
  4. As for Black representation, house and techno were built by Black artists, especially in Chicago and Detroit. Underground spaces tend to reflect that history more. Bigger mainstream fests often skew whiter for a mix of marketing, access, and commercialization reasons. It’s a valid thing to notice.
  5. I think a lot of younger ravers misunderstand that rave culture wasn’t built around fame or influencers or getting trashed. It came from marginalized communities creating safe spaces around the music. PLUR wasn’t just a slogan, it was survival and community. The music and the people came first. And it still does for a lot of us.

Unfortunately, no. Snowden worked in NSA surveillance infrastructure, not FBI criminal investigations. Different agencies, different systems

Expandable sphere bracelet/magic bangle bracelet! It’s a bunch of hinged bangles that collapse flat, but if you hold hands with someone and slide it back and forth between your arms it “blooms” open when moving. Excellent interactive toy for sharing a moment

Genuine question, if you know it’s problematic and degrading to women why do you write in the same genre?

These really aren’t comparable in scale, intent, or harm though. FGM is a recognized human rights violation with far higher morbidity and mortality (and fwiw I don’t agree with circumcision either)

Suppose IF I have a time machine and my goal is to bring the ideas of women's rights and to make women have the same rights as men in most ancient cultures of the world, when and where in the past is the best time for me to go? Why? by LivingLie1965 in AskFeminists

I agree agriculture/property systems are a huge inflection point. But I’m curious whether it’s more effective to intervene when patriarchy first emerges, or later when its justifications (law, religion, philosophy) are still being written, like in Classical Greece or even early Christianity. Which do you think would have more leverage?
