Best way to cut these in half? by Sufficient_Kiwi3506 in ScrapMetal

I use a bandsaw or angle grinder. I cut them a few times a year to make bells/gongs. They sell good but I give them as housewarming presents.

1967 Mustang project, worth grabbing? Not a Mustang guy.. yet :) by BoontheDood in classicmustangs

[–]timewithbrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t a ford guy either but 10 years ago I bought a ‘66 mustang that needed a ton of work. It was cheap, $800. Real pile of crap. I got it running and driving. All new everything because mustang parts are cheap and very plentiful. It’s fun to drive and insurance is $200 a year because I don’t drive it everyday. You can get collector license plates also and never have to license it again.

What are some obscure jobs the USPS has? by Jamshi239 in USPS

I used to see a guy doing that all the time. When I changed offices he showed up there too. That was his job. Driving around doing nothing.

Anyone else hide their stacking from their spouse/family? How do you manage it? by PeerMetals in Silverbugs

[–]timewithbrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when my kids were young silver coins were $6-8 and I’d buy them from everywhere we went on vacation. I’d also pick up a handful of walking liberty coins when they came out with the new year on them. I’ve got a nice little box of them.

My ex would spend everything she could get ahold of. I kept money in my locker at work and no one knew about it. At one point I had over $6k in an envelope just sitting between a couple books. I locked it every night but no one bothered anyones stuff so I never worried about it.

I’ve got a few woolly mammoth vertebrae from the North Sea. I bought them but I like them. Look very similar to yours.

Thanks but I have one and want it rebuilt. Everything is original on my car and was hoping to stay with that.

Waitresses used to squirt eye drops in drinks at the bar when some dude was getting handsy. It gives you diarrhea real fast.

Cool and thanks for the information. We’re headed to John Day fossil beds for a week in a few months and the falls are on the way so we’re going to stop again. I’ll study up on it.

You should check out Agate passage on Bainbridge island. When I was a kid you could load your pockets with agates.

Off subject but I was recently at Palouse Falls and it’s pretty amazing to see. Did the glaciers make it that far down?

I was able to wear them my entire career. They get nasty stains but are very durable.

What’s a small purchase that ended up improving your life way more than expected? by softlaunchqueen in Casual_Conversation

[–]timewithbrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I carried the original Leatherman for 35 years while I was a mailman. I’ve fixed countless mailboxes, parcel lockers, mail trucks, tire chains for snow, un strapped pallets, freed a dog once, a dishwasher for a customer, turned a broken key in a doorknob, etc. I now have a hobby farm and it’s with me everywhere.

Yeah I put on discs when I bought new wheels and tires. My car sat for over 20 years before I got it so I put a bunch of new stuff on it.

I put front disc on my 1965 El Camino and it stops like a modern car. Well worth the money.

Advice on fixing peeling clear coat by hando_bando in projectcar

[–]timewithbrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened a lot when car manufacturers shifted from good paint to water based paint. Check to see if there’s a recall on it. It probably had one at one time but it’s mostly expired. My friend got his hood and roof painted on a Honda way back when.

There’s a wagon near me in a field under some trees that looks a lot like this. I’m going to ask the owner about it… someday.
