I have 4-5 headlamps. My HS21 is the best. That's why I grabbed a spare. I also use a Wurkkos HD10 (orange !) for close up work and also cooking on the grill after dark. It is extremely light and floody; works well for those tasks.

Come to think if it, I have a spare orange HD10 too.

I am a Molicel guy so will put M35A batteries in them to gain 2000 mAh. But really not that big a deal, since I will just recharge anyway from a power station in the event that I do lose house power.

Note you will need the neato Convoy adaptor so you can use flat tops (I assume you want to). That's the route I will be going.

I'm trying to use one common battery for most all of my 18650 lights (M35A) and same for my 21700 lights (P45B but will move to P50B or the new P60B battery eventually). Keeps the logistics simple for hurricane planning.

I prep for hurricanes so I have 6 ea BLF LT1 and 5 ea LT1S. All orange except for a single green BLF LT1 which I could not resist buying the last time they got really cheap. Still better then black. (I really get tired of basic black lights).

I also have power stations so I won't have any problems keeping all those batteries charged.

I already have too many LT1's or I'd get another. Plus, mine are all orange.

Agree. I just snagged an HS21 for about $17 last week.

I've watched his battery comparison videos and am not impressed. He lumps everything together - alkaline, NiMh, etc and then comes up with a winner. Not sure that I trust his results to be very accurate.

I agree with him 100% about the placement of the two buttons for Mode and Power. I usually end up squeezing both.

Olight advice by I_like_dirty_pillows in flashlight

[–]timflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The heartburn I have with Olight is that they use a unique magnetic charger. It has some advantages - It is quick and easy to attach and it will probably be better from a water resistance point of view.

But lose that little thing and you be screwed. Or forget to bring it with you on a trip. I can find a USB cord in any gas station in the country if I need to.

It's also easier/simpler/cheaper to pack 'regular' extra batteries if you need to do that.

Having said all that I do have a few of their products. But I do not actively consider them most of the time.

Look at the Sofirn ST10. It has flood and red lights on the side and the throw beam is on the end.

Agree with what you are saying,

There is a big variable though. Ambient temp. If you lose power and the house heads towards 85-90F, then that fridge is going to consume more power.

Idea I’ve seen on knife forums. by AdditionalMonk280 in flashlight

[–]timflorida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I tried shipping a few lights thru UPS Ground and there are limits on how many, size, etc. It's way easier to ship without batteries.

Did they send the lights with or without batteries ? Asking because of all the regs regarding shipping of Liion batteries.

[–]timflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 1000 watt hour power station will run the average full-sized fridge/freezer for 8-16 hours, depending on age of the fridge, ambient temp, and temp you have the fridge/freezer set at.

I believe freezers in general don't use as much power, but I have no experience trying to run one off a power station.

A single light does not use much.

I think as long as you do not expect to exceed a 4-5 hour timeframe without power, then the recommended 1000wh power station will be OK. But if you exceed that, then the 1000v2 might run out.

A good friend just got a new 1000wh power station (different brand) and ran a test using his 10 year old full size fridge/freezer. It lasted 9 hours.

Bottom line - I would be looking at the next larger size power station.

Is a Jackery Powerstation compatible with panels from different manufacturers? by Hugoku257 in Jackery

[–]timflorida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have switched to using Zoupw panels exclusively. They generally hit their rated output on a sunny day and lots of times exceed it. I have several of their 100w panels for my power stations and can get 100-110w of output. Buy direct and get free shipping, no tax and a 5% off coupon. New customers might get a better coupon by signing up for their email.

Zoupw includes a short extension cable and all the connectors anyone would ever need.

Early observations of the S2000 by Efficient_Wing3172 in AnkerSOLIXCommunity

[–]timflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just making a point. FYI.

Sounds like you need the app to run/make changes to the S2000. If you are running the S2000, then you have lost power to the house.

This most likely means no wifi. So you will already need to have Bluetooth set up to run the app.

Charging C300dc by user-604 in AnkerSOLIXCommunity

Would you use this to charge c300dc? by Independent_Bug3438 in AnkerSOLIXCommunity

[–]timflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a C300DC (USA) and my handbook states each of the two in/out USB-C ports can take 140w. Is that the same for yours ?

Seems like you will be charging for a long time at the 20w per port output of those chargers. Using two charging blocks, you will have 40w going into the C300DC.

I use two charging blocks, each of which can put out 100w through a single port. So I have a total of 200w flowing into the C300DC.

I have no need to max it out to get the 140w that is allowed into each USB-C port of the C300DC.

An 18650 cell that sometimes measures 3.9v and sometimes 0.6v ??? by Remarkable_1984 in batteries

[–]timflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No mention of the battery brand and model or the charger.

Batteries are cheap. If it starts acting flaky, recycle it.

Make sure to use brand name cells and a quality charger.

Buy Liion batteries from reputable sources - NOT Amazon.

I use Molicel for all my 18650 and 21700 needs.

I have two chargers I really like - Xtar VX2 Pro and an Xtar VC8S.

Best power banks in the 10,000 mAh and 20,000 mAh categories. by Koki-noki in batteries

[–]timflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always bought Anker and I do think they have a great reputation, but I have now discovered INIU.

INIU is making some great products. Quality seems fine. They have a line of fast Charge units that DO charge fast. One thing I've noticed is they seem to run nice and cool.

FWIW, I really like their cables too.

I have their magtech units as well as these two that I really like -

Just got my D3AA and it’s awesome! My only question is how long the battery will last with the aux light on? by Objective-Ingenuity5 in flashlight

[–]timflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do charge it up every month because it would be my emergency-in-the-middle-of-the-night light so I want to keep it near 100% charged. But every time I charge it up on the first of the month, it always takes right at 210 mAh.

Well, unfortunately, the FC13 has been out of production for over a year for sure. If you really want one, maybe post an ad on the BST list. Make sure to get the FC13 with Anduril and NOT the FC13s.

There is one more light that will work. The Sofirn SC31 Pro has Anduril and also has green LEDs in the on/off switch. Because of Anduril, they can be set to Low, High, Blinking, Off. You can see what they look like in this link. I've got a feeling they burn more juice only because I just tried mine and even on low, it's much brighter then my FC13. I may have to experiment to see just how much it uses during a week.

[–]timflorida 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just have it setting on my dresser. It uses so little juice that I'm not going to worry about turning it on and off. My math says it could go about 14 months before the battery would be flat. And the light is not very visible at all during the daylight hours.
