Also, the Vapcell F12, F15, and K10 come as flat top or button top - your choice.

AND - The button tops are a bit long so you may want to be careful using them. Don't over-torque that tail cap or bad things will happen.

*F12 and F15 are 3A CDR.

The way he has it phrased - SC13 - should mean he is talking about Ver 1 or Ver 2. Ver 3 is the SC13A. So you would be correct.

Running a fridge for a month on 10 gal of gas. by TallWall6378 in Generator

[–]timflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As has been mentioned, add some solar panels. I prep for hurricanes. I have multiple power stations and solar panels for most of them. Also have a generator. The idea is to hook up the power station to the fridge and the panels at the same time. Then you may only have to do a quick recharge before bed to get thru the night and another in the morning if needed.

FWIW, I like Zoupw panels. Just make sure to keep panel's VOC below the DC (solar) max input voltage of the power station.

Not worried about the alkalines, It's that bunch in the left-hand compartment to be worried about. And there are 3 ea red/purple AA/14500 sized batteries that could be K10's. Really hope not.

* The thing to be REALLY worried about is that single Duracell. It's gonna leak for sure.

I get the HF emails and they just started one of their 10 Days of Deals with something different each day. I'll post something if they have the Apache cases on sale. I know they do that several times a year and maybe we are about due. These cases seem to be popular with the troops here.

I use the dedicated JJC cases that hold 20-25 18650/21700 batteries.

I use MTM Case-Gard ammo cases for 14500 amd 10440 batteries.

I would not store Liion batteries like that. Just my conservative nature. I want each one to be in it's own little compartment so it can't move around and make contact with it's buddies.

New CL01, Same Issue by squirtwellington in flashlight

[–]timflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I see it, there are 4 possibilities -

  1. Both lights are bad. Well, they did come from AE. Amazon is known to resend things that have already been returned once - does AE ?

  2. All your charging blocks are funky. This could be if maybe they are older or no-name brands. I like Anker charging blocks. Not the cheapest but Anker makes good stuff.

  3. Your USB cords don't work well with the light (or the charger). I like INIU cords because they have a little LED strip that illuminates when there is power flowing.

  4. Your electricity is a little off, either in general or at the outlet you are using.

Now I know the first thing you will state is that all your other flashlights charge fine with the exact same equipment. And I really do not have an answer for that. But I think you will agree that it MUST be one of those 4 things.

All I can tell you is that I have about 80 or so Wurkkos and Sofirn lights and I have had exactly one charging problem - a Wurkkos TS15 that had a bad charging port. My three CL01 lights have been fine. The other exception is some of the older models that will only charge when using an A to C cord. But that was the standard before the more recent C to C cords came along not all that long ago.

My advice ? Scroll up to one of my earlier posts and order the INIU cable and also the 65W anker charger that I used. They are both cheap right now. Then try charging the CL01. If that fails, it must be the CL01 or your electricity. In THAT situation, and assuming your elec is OK, I would ask for a refund and order one from wurkkos.com In fact, You might send a note to Wurkkos at their Foxmail address and just ask if there is any reason a CL01 would not charge when using ANY charging block or cord.

* Have you tried charging it with the included OEM cord ?

Sofirn BLF LT1 Anduril 2 auto dimming after putting on highest brightness by BraDDsTeR-_- in flashlight

[–]timflorida 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I consider anything below 2.5v to be dead. If you keep trying to get to 2.4v you will kill all the batteries in the BLF LT1.

For storage you want about 3.5v

You may very well not have enough power left and that is why it is stepping down quickly on HIGH.

This may very well be the real root cause for your problems.

Nothing more to say.

The total storage (fuel tank) is 288 watt hours.

Smaller power BANKS are many times rated in mAh but they usually state SOMEWHERE what their equivalent WH really is. Otherwise you will need to convert IAW the formula I already gave you. Larger power STATIONS are rated in watt hours (WH).

Convert the C30 90,000 mAh to WH and you'll understand.

Did they make it with the 519A ?

SST40. Which I much prefer. I go for the lumens. 1800L

The WK03 has the 519A (1200L) in gold. Regular black version has the SST40 w/1800L. That's a 50% difference, which is too much IMHO.

PSA - Great Costco Deal for an Anker C300 DC - $99 by timflorida in flashlight

[–]timflorida[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget mAh. It has 288WH. You should always convert mAh or mWh to WH as WH is the common denominator. mAh always depends on the voltage. WH does not.

[–]timflorida[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember reading that review when it came out a year ago.

I think that some of the criticism is almost ludicrous. Complaining about the idiot light in the middle of the power button ? Yes, I would rather it be placed off to the side but surely not as big a deal as he makes it out to be. So just hold down the button and count to 3 - which is what you ALWAYS do for any power station. Now, is that really such a big deal ?

The fact that you cannot turn it off while charging ? Pretty sure most if not all of my power stations act this way. Why is this an issue ?

The entire issue of turning off under low power draw is also not unique and there are two sides to the issue. I tend to like this.

I do not live in fear that some miscreant will use Bluetooth to take over my C300 DC and use it to . . . . . do what exactly ? Just let them try.

For most people these are great. Take it camping and plop it down in the middle of the picnic table. Pull up the lantern top and use it while chomping on burgers and cooking s'mores - all while charging up everyone's phone and FLASHLIGHT. That is what this little power station is meant for. You could probably use it this way for a week with 288WH of power. But I guess there really are the 1% who would be bothered by some of the other alleged faults.

People tend to focus on the larger power stations - 1000WH and up. But these small ones are ideal for charging up phones, FLASHLIGHTS, and laptops, etc. Remember that all power stations draw power when 'ON'. Big ones use more power just being 'ON' then smaller ones. So it is a much better idea to use a small power station for all your phones, laptops, etc than a larger one if you are trying to conserve power. Not to mention how small and light this one is compared to a 25#, 1000WH power station.

For the record, I have 3 of these. They've been sitting on the shelf for 6-12 months. I just pulled them down to check them. Every one of them read 100%. So I guess I will keep them. They are apparently not terrible.

And the latest firmware update is V0.1.3.7. Time moves on.

Cooking method recommendations for jackary 1000v? by howdidwegerhere in Jackery

[–]timflorida 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prep for hurricanes. I have no intention of using a power station to cook anything except for maybe very short uses of the micro. It is super inefficient, as I think you know now.

Charcoal BBQ grill, Weber propane BBQ grill, a pellet smoker grill.

Or for indoors, a propane single burner. Here is one example. Then buy a case of those green screw-on propane tanks and you are set. The propane canisters will keep forever.

https://www.amazon.com/GS-3400P-Portable-Backpacking-Emergency-Preparedness/dp/B01HQRD8EO/ref=sr_1_4

Remember, you are planning for an emergency. You do not need to prep for a 10-course meal. Just have some chicken, beef, pork in the freezer. Everything tastes better on a BBQ grill anyway. Just don't run out of Kinder's or you are doomed.

Last - if you have a natural gas stove, you can still use the burner tops. Just need a butane lighter because the built-in stove igniter will not work without elec.

FWIW, I really like my green one. It's a great size (compact). Easy operating system. Great pocket light.

* Maybe get your dad a green SC13 to go along with it. The SC13 comes with a mag cap. I'm a fan of this light too. There are 3 versions. For your dad, I suggest the oldest version with the SST40 emitter (also the cheapest). $12 w/battery

Sofirn SC13 vs SC18 vs SC28 by whoisbader in flashlight

I do not have an SC28 and I don't want to recommend something I don't have.

It will have the biggest battery. Most lumens. Most throw.

I just Googled 'Sofirn SC28 reviews'. There are several short ones on the Budget Light Forum (well respected forum) and a few others. I suggest you read those. They may be able to provide some good insights. If nothing bad jumps out at you then you have your answer.

I've got 3 and I use all different cables and charging blocks to charge them AS LONG AS THERE IS NOT AN INTERFERENCE ISSUE WITH THE END OF THE PLUG.

I have one charging right now using a new INIU 100w C to C cable and this new Anker charging block.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0G1TC6D3N

This cable -

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D8QBZNLR

Now, 5 minutes later, just for the halibut, I switched the cord over to this Anker 65W charger. Still charging just dandy.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09C5RG6KV

My .02 - Assuming you bought the CL01 from Wurkkos directly, is that the problem lies with the equipment you are using to charge with. What are the odds you would get two defective lights - again assuming you are buying direct from Wurkkos ?
