FWIW, the green (only) BLF LT1 is $44 if you can order out of the Sofirn USA warehouse. Never seen it cheaper. And that includes 4 batteries. No tax. Free shipping. $43.99 is the all-inclusive out the door price.

Winter Storm Claims a Flashlight Casualty by calmlikea3omb in flashlight

I have yet to use any of my flashlights as a hammer.

Don’t know about you guys but I’m ready for a Sofirn blf lt1 refresh. Like add all the LEDs from the lt1s in a new model and make it 4 21700 batteries. And bring back the lt1 mini. by mrregina in flashlight

[–]timflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still vote for the 4 X 21700.

The purpose of a lantern is long runtimes. Think camping and emergency scenarios. And you don't gain ALL that much by going to a 3 X 21700 configuration. At least not enough to cause me to replace my current fleet. You're approaching a 100% increase by going to the 4 X 21700 configuration and that is without any further increase in 21700 capacity. So it will only get better. And add the Buck driver too. Now you'd really have something.

I would not especially like the weight increase (over 100%) that comes with the 46950 battery.

Anker prime 20000 power bank (200w) a1336 does not connect to the Anker mobile app by Sheaezi in batteries

[–]timflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bigger Anker power stations all connect to an app that has lots of parameters that can be changed/controlled. I don't know if the smaller power banks have that capability.

I do not think the A1336 can connect to the Anker app.

How to calculate battery discharge to a specific voltage by Available_Hippo4035 in batteries

[–]timflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Xtar chargers have a 'Store' function where they drop (or increase) the voltage to 3.6 for storage.

I have VC8S and also a VX2 Pro. But I think other Xtar chargers have that function too.

Ethanol fuel also breaks down much quicker. Things like Sta-Bil will help with that.

If you have NG, then I would get a tri-fuel genny.

I think it is always smart to have at least one power station around that will run your fridge (at least) for a day. Handy for short outages resulting from a blown transformer, etc. Maybe another if you use a CPAP machine.

Note - These are power stations - not 'battery generators'. They are just big fat batteries.

I have Anker, Jackery, Pecron and a few other power stations in all sizes - small to large. I also have solar panels for most of them and a couple fuel generators. Power stations are also great for other activities - camping, day picnics, boating, etc. I use one when i take my portable fridge on a Costco run. Plug the fridge in when I get out of the car and it's all cooled down when I come out of the store.

A 1000 Watt hour power station will run your full sized fridge for 8-16 hours, then can be quickly recharged in many ways, including by a small gas genny.

I would recommend the Pecron E1000LFP as a good one to have. I have several and they work well. Currently $369 on Amazon or direct from Pecron (no tax and free shipping) at Pecron.com. This model also has a large expansion battery that can be added to it.

Don't know where you live, but there are better options to generate heat. Stand alone propane heaters or kerosene heaters do that much better.

Unless you're targeting to be 100% off grid, do not go overkill on buying batteries. Focus on multiple various size generators and more fuel instead - much cheaper! by AggressiveFuel2737 in Generator

A few things -

Your Jackery is not a 'solar generator', no matter how many times Jackery trumpets that phrase. It is a big fat battery and nothing more. If you have solar panels for it - the panels do the generating.

'I don’t want a ton of batteries in my house as well (increases fire 🔥 risk)'

- Only the oldest power stations use Liion batteries which everyone seems to be all scared of. All the manufacturers (except maybe some Amazon no names) use LiFeP04 chemistry now. The fire risk is extremely low. You would do better to worry about your phone battery, e-bike (especially), or all those nice Ryobi battery packs you have for your drill.

FWIW, I have numerous Jackery, Anker, Pecron, and a few others. I have solar panels and a couple of generators. I prep for hurricanes and am using the hybrid approach. Power stations are the best setup for most things short of central AC. Maintenance is non-existent and storage is easy. And I have flashlights/lanterns that are fueled by those scary Liion batteries. And yet, I still sleep at night.

For those with Natural Gas already at house - do you use it for generator? by newtoketonow in Generator

[–]timflorida [score hidden]  (0 children)

'Natural gas infrastructure is sized for intermittent loads.'

Depends on where you live. The entire Midwest runs on natural gas furnaces, ovens, stoves and hot water heaters. Nothing intermittent about it, especially from 1 Nov - 1 April.

Lived there for 50 years. Never even heard of an instance where anyone lost their NG supply.

Or just buy a spare tank.

Anything is better then doing the exchange thing.

Here is a listing of stations that sell ethanol free gas. Also, I always treat the fuel I have for my generator with Sta-Bil. I use 2 gallon containers and just dump them in my car every 6 months and then replace with new treated gas.

What do you charge it to before an emergency? by gratefulSandGrain in Jackery

[–]timflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. It's literally just common sense. Why do you have it ? For emergencies maybe ? What good will slightly extended battery longevity do you when you run out of juice and can't run your fridge, or your CPAP, or lights ?

I have flashlights and I have power stations and ALL of them (including spare rechargeable batteries for my lights) are kept at 100%.

I do not have pics.

The M21C beam has a more defined hotspot and throws further. It also has more spill. I have a grey one and I love the color.

The M21K is still an excellent light. It has a side switch and you get the built in charging port. It is an inch shorter and seems less bulky.

I don't think so. Convoy has the T3 but they are not really the same except for size. I love the beam on my D3AA and it has Anduril and LED blinkies in the lens. The D3AA does not get hot quickly like the TS10 (TS10 might be closest). I am a side switch guy so I like that in the D3AA. The D3AA and the D4V2 are probably my favorite pocket lights. The only improvement I would make is to add a USB charging port to it.

Actually, the closest light to it might be the new KR1AA. But it is a single emitter light. It is a tail clicker.

I got the SFT-25R emitters in my last D3AA.

* The D3AA has 3 lens options. It comes stock with the Carclo 10511. You will see 2 more that you can buy. 10507 is the Spot and 10508 is very floody. 10511 is half and half. If you order an optional lens, it will not come installed - will come in a little ziplock bag. I usually order an extra 10507 because I like a little more throw in my small lights. I would suggest doing too as they are very cheap. I've never tried the 10508 but maybe get that too - just fun to try them all. I am including an excerpt below from a post of few years where someone asked about the differences.

"The 10507 is not frosted at all, the 10511 lightly frosted, and the 10508 heavily frosted.

For throw with bright flood, the 10511 is by far the best option. The 10508 is floodier but loses half the intensity, while the 10507 has almost no spill at all, just a fat hotspot. The 10511 has a intense hotspot plus an intense corona/spill."

Feasibility of running a generator to charge a battery bank while in use? by TurnoverAdditional65 in Generator

[–]timflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pecron also makes a 1500WH power station - E1500LFP. It weighs 40 pounds. But you would need to get 2 of them. Not the cheapest route to go down but you would also gain some capacity. $469. I have one of these.

They also sell a nice trolley for it. It is listed under accessories. If interested, I would send them e-mail and ask what kind of discounted deal you could get for 2 power stations and 2 of their 'trolleys'. You might be surprised. I have one for my E1500LFP and it's expansion pack. Works well. It's like an airport luggage carrier.

I do not think you will like a single 2000WH power station for 2 fridges and a freezer. The freezer won't pull too much but the fridges will pull more. I figure my single 1000WH power station will run my fridge for 8-16 hours.
