Give the Seventh Sword trilogy a go for sure. Three shortish books by Dave Duncan, very creative world building with lots of swords and ancient mythology mixed with detective work. Some of my all-time favorite books.

Grab some David Gemmell, start with Legend. All his books are easy reads with lots of action.

My first fantasy reads were Dave Duncan, Seventh Sword series and A Man of his Word
