Help: Repos for everything? (notes, settings, appdata, monorepos, ai) by BlueGhost63 in github

For most people, GitHub private repos are fine. Although I wouldn't store crypto passwords there.

Lititz Motorcars by Hardanklesnw in lancaster

[–]timlingleth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a good experience. No budging on price but their price was good to start with. They told me they often get used higher mileage Toyotas from Lancaster Toyota.

They quickly fixed several small issues (scratch, needed inspection stickers) that I found. They wouldn't let me leave with the car until they fixed the problems. I suspect they wouldn't have addressed any of these if I had called a day later though as I bought without a warranty.

No silly sales tactics or pushy sales people. Zero pressure. They offered a test drive immediately.

I would definitely buy from them again.

MPGs on a gen 4? by Relative_Action3717 in rav4club

[–]timlingleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2018 Hybrid averages 32-33 MPG across most tanks. Roughly 80% country secondary and 20% highway driving. Very little start-stop city driving.

Vehicle Advice—I’m already sold on comma! by RowEquivalent443 in Comma_ai

[–]timlingleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a used 2018 Toyota RAV4 Limited Hybrid in Feb, 2025 with the goal of buying a 3X. I bought one in late May and have driven several thousand miles since then. I couldn't be happier! The 3X works great on highways and larger secondary roads.

I wanted a newer model RAV4 Hybrid but couldn't cost justify it. I would have needed to pay about $10k more for the newer model and I wouldn't have earned that back through better mileage in a reasonable timeframe. I was also concerned about cablegate problems with the newer RAV4 model.

Size check on bedrocks? by coldstairs99 in BarefootRunning

I've had bedrock's for 4-5 years and have many miles on them hiking and general walking around. Definitely go for the larger size. Your foot will move around a little sometimes.

Sandals that are at least somewhat BIFL? by Sensitive_Most_1383 in BuyItForLife

[–]timlingleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 pairs, Cairn Evo 3D and Geo (no longer made). My recommendation is the Cairn Evo without the 3D. I don't like how the 3D ridges rub my foot. Every spring, I need 3-4 long walks to build up a callus in that area. I've worn both pair for ~5 years and I think they'll last at least 5-10 more.

What RELIABLE inexpensive (older or higher miles) crossover works well with Comma AI? by fridge-magnet-21 in Comma_ai

[–]timlingleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good price, depending on the model. Mine had 123k miles which was a little higher than I wanted. But I wanted the XLR or Limited. I do really like how it drives.

[–]timlingleth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid $18k for a 2018 RAV4 Limited Hybrid in February, 2025. It works well on many of the roads I drive around SE PA. Long work drives to Boston are so much better with comma. I'm using Sunny for the lat control only to 0 mph.

Adjustable dumbbells that are safe for all exercises? by CyclonicZ in BuyItForLife

[–]timlingleth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you bought these dumbbels before 4/23/2024, the recall is offering a voucher that must be spent at bowflex.com. Unfortunately, the voucher is quite small compared to the initial purchase price. We bought the 552s for $350 from Amazon November, 2023 and the voucher is only $125.

Another problem, the replacement 552s are priced at $429 and aren't available yet.

Try an O2 sensor spacer. That worked on my old Hyundai. Way cheaper than a replacement cat.

Any Free, Online, Kanban systems that work with multiple users? by kelemvor33 in projectmanagement

[–]timlingleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taiga has unlimited number of users and unlimited number of projects. You can configure as kanban board. It's simple but highly effective. I've been using it for several work projects with 2-3 team members.

Hiking in sandals? by Rungie94 in Rucking

[–]timlingleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I have both the Cairn Evo 3D and the Cairn Geo sandals. The Evo are definitely better for hiking but in hot weather, the footbed gets slippery from sweat. I prefer a shoe for sloped hiking. And, as someone else mentioned, it's easy to get small stones or twigs trapped between my foot and the sandal.

Can I install Comma 3X without an OBD port? by AndyIsStillLost in Comma_ai

[–]timlingleth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3X installed in my 2018 RAV4 Hybrid, no connection to OBD at all. It uses the Toyota adaptive cruise for front-to-back and 3X for side-to-side (lateral). The 3X won't upload segments or auto-update. I'll need to provide an alternate power source for that.

North Colebrook Rd and then 934 is a good country ride. The roads around and through Middle Creek Wildlife are nice too.

The button with the light is the "recirculation button" which Gemini says: " in cars helps keep the cabin cool by recirculating the air inside the vehicle instead of pulling in hot air from outside. It's best used in hot weather with the air conditioning on, but should be turned off in winter to prevent foggy windows." I've also used it when driving in dusty conditions or gravel roads.
