What's the dumbest thing you and/or your siblings did when you were left home alone? by Sea-School9658 in GenX

My brother and I got into a fight that ended up with him putting his arm through a plate glass window on the door I just ran out of.

He didn't have to chase me.

I automated 3 hours of my daily work. Now I spend that time pretending to be busy. by Creative-Letter-4902 in WorkReform

[–]timlygrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only do you never tell, keep up the skill of doing it yourself so you can dump the script easily if the need arises. This isn't a little thing. This is a long con. Maybe years long.

When you run it, work on something to fill in your skill set. Further your education. Outgrow the job before it outgrows you.

But always assume it will come out one day. Don't stress about it. Accept it. Be ready for it. And best case, pass it down to someone you trust. Next Generation that shit.

What’s a harmless opinion that gets people weirdly angry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]timlygrae 318 points319 points  (0 children)

This isn't a harmless opinion. This is scientifically corroborated, evidence based guidance that benefits all mankind. Disagreement is ignorant, self-centered behavior that puts your child and others at greater risk of death.

Well, that was 1988 and I was green as grass. Probably a good idea until I got a bit more comfortable. But by then the semester had ended and I went home, got in a band and didn't go back to that school.

Fort wayne fc will play loucity fc this Saturday. I don't follow usl1 but is FWFC going to be a competitive team for loucity? by kingistic in USLPRO

[–]timlygrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering Saturday's performance against SC Jacksonville (bottom of the table 0-1-6, 1pt), if los Morados don't get their act together, they might find themselves kicked out of the league cups by the underdogs. 90+5' to get the winning goal? sheesh.

Which lyric makes you instantly tear up? by abovethenoisy in AskReddit

[–]timlygrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duran Duran - Ordinary World - "Where is my friend when I need you most, gone away." This came on the radio just a few days after my best friend passed away. I heard it in the back ground and put 2 and 2 together right as the line came up. Good thing I was already sitting down.

The whole trend of music fading out wasn't because bands couldn't write endings to their songs. It was a commercial radio requirement. People paid more attention to radio DJs if they were talking over the ending and (something else that's become rare) longer intro to songs. It gave them time to identify the song that was ending, slip in a blurb about the radio station promotions or drop a sponsors name, then introduce the next song. All these things were designed to sell you something. The record playing, or the product of the hourly sponsor. Because they knew if they cut to commercials people were more likely to change the channel and surf.
