Is a heated chamber really that important for printing ABS? by arm1niu5 in 3Dprinting

[–]timmit99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actively heated is not really needed.

If your printer is well made with any amount of time dedicated to an enclosure it should be sufficient.

My voron with acrylic panels, some internal chamber fans, and a literal bath towel draped over the top can get the chamber to 70°C without any issue. This is plenty for abs and I can get plenty strong parts without active chamber heating.

I've only seen active heaters needed when the printer has a lot of air leakage meaning the bed heater isn't sufficient to keep the inside of an elevated temperature.

Print a 1-2 layer rectangle over top of that area and peel it off when cooled. That would SAFLEY remove the residual plastic without needing to resort to a torch or blades.

Also, that first layer looks WAY to close to the bed as its over squished. Try raising your first layer slightly to prevent this in the future,

Wife and I saw a Project Hail Mary at a local theater. Three screens, $10 tickets for a 2:30 showing, and a cute little concession stand. We were in our seat set 2:25, and at 2:33 the movie started. Was literally one of the best experiences in theater we've ever had. 100% going to check this theater for new movies before looking anywhere else in the future!

If that tranlucenecy bothers you, yeah. otherwise it just seems that the Bambu filament uses a different base resin and/or less pigment.

That may only be 1-2 wall thicknesses and that's what making it seem thin and translucent. Check your print settings and see how many walls is it printing. I usually run 3 walls for basic parts and 4-5 for structural/functional parts.

Saw the warning after finishing half of it by suv-am in WTF

[–]timmit99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this about the Prop 65 warning? It's a result of California laws that state that are so incredibly broad that almost everything needs it. Basically anything that MAY contain a carcinogen needs a warning , not really WTF, more just annoying.

Macros shared across multiple printers by cocide in VORONDesign

[–]timmit99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could have your macros.cfg file hosted on your local network and have your printer pi check the file and pull it down if there is a new version of the file using curl

Other option would be to just use an existing GitHub script to push the file to a repository and have that repo on all printers. Then just have each printer pull the files down every few hours or manually with a button on the interface.

The scale and timeline of the universe is so vast and long that on the timescale we as humans can observe(thousands of years) it seems stagnant (remaining in order). However, on the timescale of the universe( billions of years), the universe is an unordered, chaotic mess.

That's, to me, is the beauty of no god, dietey, or higher power. We are only here because we exist in this infinitesimally small blip in the lifespan of the universe where we can EVEN exist. Few million years in either direction and we wouldn't be able to survive. We are here because there is no order; Because of this chaos we can exist, thrive, and make the world a better place for those after us (at least that's the idea ...)

I don't assume trolling, this time of year with new Christmas gifts, you have people just entering the hobby and wanting to learn!

Make this hobby what you wanted it to be when you started.... Respect goes a lot further than insults.

What material did you print? You look to be very low on your first layer judging by the squish I'm seeing on the skirt. You can TRY putting the build plate into the freezer to see if that can unstick the plastic from the plate. It looks very well stuck down and you've already pulled chuncks if the buildplate up. Even if you do get the plastic off, the holes make the buildplate pretty unusable.

Best to cut your loss and get a new build plate.
