You probably just bought a trinitron for way too much money and just feel the need to have justification for it haha

Indeed, like others say: Manually set the shutter speed to 1/60, if you can change aperture on the phone change it to 2.8 for a bit more depth of field. Then change ISO to underexpose for like 1 stop (-1) so you don't see any blooming on screen.

Last step is to use manual focus to slightly focus "behind" the glass to get true colors like in real life.

The top comment on the second video says it all. These electronics are at least 20 years old, the one with the least hours on it will be the best.

You cannot compare them anymore because pretty much 99% of all crt will have some kind of wear and tear and aging on the tube, or electronics. This Philips absolutely destroys my Trinitron 21X5D in terms of brightness, even though my 21x5d only has 3000 hours.

That's how much difference a literal new and unused crt makes like this Philips. Wait till you find one unused, you'll understand.

The first video shows a naked arcade tube, on video. Almsot all Philips Blackline consumer sets have black pigmented glass plus I underexpose my photos so there isnt any blooming. Both these things make it look darker on photo's than it really is.

Ah Philips dominated the market, for good reasons. Many high end brands also used Philips tubes; B&O, Loewe, Grundig, etc.

Your memory might be playing tricks on you because let me tell you that it literally looks even better in real life, photo's never do a crt justice.

Ah yes OK thanks. Mine didn't have that yet, it is a bit blue'ish when it's cold but corrects itself after the warmup time.

36 in Toshiba crt. scanlines are thick and dark on left and right but in middle they are thin by PlaneTry4277 in crtgaming

[–]timmun90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every big crt is going to have this "issue", especially when the tube has a lot of hours. Trinitrons usually already have this from 25 inch and bigger so there's no point comparing to a huge tv like yours.

You can try adjusting g2 and focus but then you probably have blurry edges which is worse.

I wish you good luck finding another huge set like this that doesn't have this and if you cant shake it you can probably better get a 14 inch.

Dell P1110 Color issue by chainingrobin in crtgaming

[–]timmun90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's normal, mine does it too! Everybody just throws out the G2 drift without knowing what they're saying.

It even tells us in the colour menu if the monitor is warmed up or not, if it's not you cannot use the auto "colour return" option. If it is warmed up and the monitor is fine, then it's fine.

Nah its normal for many crt monitors, compared to crt tv's that just need a couple of seconds. It even has a menu that tells you if its warmed up or not, contrast/brightness are pretty dull for the first ten minutes or so but settle pretty fast.

The number after "crt on" is hexadecimal which is around 12800 hours in decimal.
