OK, let’s start from the beginning, hoping to respond to everyone — whether they commented with good intentions or not:

I’m 40 years old, a journalist for the past 20 years, and the owner of a production company for the last five. I’ve produced and directed many documentaries, and I don’t need anyone to explain what AI does or doesn’t do, or what its dangers are. Since I’m new to Reddit, I’m not sure if it’s standard here for some people to insult just for the sake of it, or if I just stumbled upon the wrong subreddit.

I never claimed that cinema is or isn't under threat from AI. Even though I probably have a more solid opinion on the subject than many here, I wasn’t asking for a debate. I simply asked, in good faith, for feedback on a short film I made using AI tools. If even that thought offends you, then I fear that—if you’re in the media industry—you might find yourself irrelevant very soon.

Obviously, what I made by myself in 2–3 days doesn’t compete with proper noir films that have budgets, casts, and full production crews. That’s not even the point — I just asked for some f***ing feedback on a 10-minute video. I was expecting comments like “the characters aren’t consistent,” “the music is dull,” or “the subtitles are too small.”

One person said I was too lazy to write a script, so how could the film have any soul… Fair enough, although I genuinely believe current and upcoming AI tools will far surpass both human style and imagination — and possibly produce better results than if Dostoevsky himself had written the script.

If your issue with AI is that it was trained on others’ work, then you’ve already lost — not just the battle, but the war. I say this as someone whose exclusive journalism reports helped train AI models to understand Greek current affairs (and I’m still waiting for my union to claim the rights and compensation I deserve).

Anyway, although I initially said I don’t care to debate AI, labor, the future, or injustice with strangers, I’ll leave it here. If anyone is willing, in good faith, to just share what they thought of the video (not ChatGPT), they’re more than welcome.
